strange subject line I know.... but it will make sense!

So I had a 2007 GXL D4D a couple of years ago. Absolutely loved it. Did some ling trips up and down the coast and was thoroughly happy with it. In what can only be described as a moment of insanity I sold the Prado and purchased a Golf after about a year...(changes in circumstance... downsizing etc etc!!

.... have now sold the Golf and am due to pick up a 2005 VX petrol tomorrow!! I am based in Sydney, but am picking the vehicle up from Brisbane tomorrow so should get a good long test drive home!

I had an independent inspection done, and it came up really well, except some minor touch up had been done on rear bar, and it was pulling slightly left... so hopefully I wont be disapointed when I pick it up.

Will be a little different after having the D4D, but the V6's I test drove locally were lovely and smooth (and significantly cheaper) so fingers crossed!

Thinking of purchasing the Toyota extended factory warranty as it has only done 65000kms I am planning on keeping this for the long haul. Any experiences good or bad??

Anyway, thought it might be of interest. look forward to adding some bits and bobs to it as time goes.... first cab of the rank will be hilux washer jets as that was a point of irritation in my last one!

    Cheers

Good decision mate. But then, I'm bias. Love my 2005 V6 VX. Love all the bits I've added. Bought it in Jan 09. Recently put a set of Coopers ATRs. Very Very happy. Considering the 150 to replace my 120 but can't bring myself to making that decision. Will probably buy a camper trailer instead. LOL.
Have just got my 120 where I want it. ATRs; suspension lift; snorkel; Sahara bar; spots; UHF; air horn; shu-roo; black duck cover for the rear seat; sheepskin on the front; cargo mat; fridge etc...
When I bought it I got the Toyota extended warranty. Not worth the paper it's written on. I'll never, never do that again. Total waste of money.
Have got a couple of cracks on the dash around the passenger airbag now. (Toyota not interested) Will replace it when I can.
If I can help it, I'll not be taking my truck to Toyota ever again. Another reason not to upgrade to a new one.

Cheers mate and happy travels, Palko

I'll second the big V6 mate! It's a pearler. Having driven both the older TD and the latest D4D, IMHO you've made the right decision, The V6 has plenty of grunt and is so smooth and effortless to drive. But of course, it's a personal choice in the end. At 65K you've got plenty of mileage left in her. Insist on a high quality synthetic engine oil instead of the inferior stuff they tend to use in the workshops. Enjoy your new rig!

        Thanks for the comments chaps.

Sat at the airport now waiting for a plane to Brissie... looking forward to the long run back in the new rig!
