    Greetings and Happy New Year to all.
    1 st time posting and I have a quick question.
    I have a 2004 120 turbo diesel with the 1KD-FTV engine.
    I am burning oil at ridiculous rate (1.5qt a month) and mechanics have basically said that the high sulphur content in the fuel where I am (Jamaica) has damaged the engine and the turbo.
    Hence I need to have it overhauled. My question is what turbo unit is standard with 1kd-ftv engine?
    Are there any repair kits available fot the turbo unit and/or the engine?
    Is there any place out of Japan for me to order the parts direct as the dealer here in Jamaica is scum.

      Sorry to be a pest.
      The vehicle is a KZ engine and not a KD as I previously stated.
      Maybe that will make more sense.

        I can only suggest pm'ing MickL as he is very knowledgeable on the 1KZ. He is the forum contact for the 120 diesel engine section of this forum.

          Any luck? What's the mileage on the engine?

          I recently purchased a 120 but opted for the 1kz-te bearing in mind that's it's more tolerant of poor diesel available in Trinidad.

          I know there are some foreign used dealers in Trinidad who brings down the engine but it's almost US$4000 for the engine alone.

            Brand new CT20 turbos are available out of the US for about $400US plus freight to your location.

            Engine rebuild kits (seals, gaskets, pistons, rings, bearings, sleeves etc etc) are sub $2K AUS also through Ebay out of UK or Australia.


            Search "1kz" in "Ebay.com" (Not - ".com.au")

                For a rebuild kit? Thats a good price if it includes everything. Diesel kits a far more expensive than petrol kits, especially if it includes pistons and sleeves.

                But still, I have seen them cheaper, around $1500 from time to time.


                Turbos are sub $300US here's one as example: (there are other suppliers out of the US)

                Just be aware to get the correct rebuild kit for the 1kz. There are two; early (pre 1996 engines) and late (post 1996).
