New Vehicle Pickup Checklist

Hi all

Drawing on the expertise that is Pradopoint, I thought that given there are a few of us close to collecting their new 120 Prado, that getting some tips/advise on what we should be checking on the car when picking it up from the dealer before accepting it and driving away!

Hi all
When picking up a new always take your time inspecting it inside
and out .Look for any dents scratches have good look at the interior
trim for damage as most dealers have a sticker inside the owners hand book saying any damage must picked up delivery unless its a manufacture defect. dont let the salesman rush you. Always try and pickup in daylight hours so inspection is easier and not a 5 oclock
when everyone at the dealership is trying to go home as things will most likely get rushed at that time .

Check your tyre pressures.
I drove approx 500k home with 3 tyres about 36psi and one at 56psi :shock: :shock:

Make sure they fill up at least the front tank. they write off fuel against tax and can afford it.

As far as I'm concerned that's the one thing I'll always ask for just before I sign.

As an aside, one of the tossers at work who bought a BMW paid $2500 in "dealer delivery charges".

If that's not the biggest racket going, I don't know what is - two and half grand for a wash and to screw on a couple of number plates. Isn't that what the dealer's profit margin already allows?

Anyway he didn't bat an eyelid at the delivery charge and doesn't complain when he gets $1,500 service bills for a grease and oil change. Talk about having more money than blah blah blah...

Fuel

If you ask you will get a full tank we will allow the 180l fuel bill against the cost of the car.....Grandeman read what we do with the dealer charges when i discussed it in the 2nd car forum......I feel like i am repeating myself.......must be a female trait :roll:

Salesgirl, not every dealer is like you quite obviously. We asked for a full tank of juice when we pick the car up and we were told we would have enough in the tank to get us to the nearest petrol station!

Personally i think its bit rough to ask for something else (full tank of fuel)after the deal has been done.Negotiate a tank of petrol before signing thats fine but after signing you are getting greedy.Just my two cents worth.

I would agree with your comment, however we discussed with him at the time before the deal was done and wanted to charge us for it and also pay luxury car tax on it as well!

Personally I think it is a bit rude to not fill up your tank, they make enough money on the car anyway and as salegirl said they claim it back. We got a full tank of Premium juice when when we bought our Subaru Outback a while ago. The dealer didin't even bat an eyelid when we asked just said no problem when we picked it up.
