  • Adam,
Yes it is possible but pricing is not guaranteed to stay the same as with most things (depending on how long you wait).

I think we can expect an influx of Prado pointers moving to South Oz once they all twig that this is the state to get all your high quality, low priced, custom made accessories. Bash plates, spare wheel spacers, diff drops, sliders, Pradopoint stickers!! All the best gear and prices in good old South Oz.

        Cheers Andrew

.... and even some extremely rare one-off scrub bars possessed by only 2 South Aussies! As collectables these are already rumored to be priceless.

          • I have been spending the last few nights under the car tweaking the design and considering and trying to allow for MickL's diff drop kit. The photo below shows my cardboard prototype held in place with 2 long bolts.

To the right of each bolt is where the diff arms are attached to the cross member. This is where the 50mm spacer goes into. At its current position, there is a 40mm gap under the diff arms (not enough for the 50mm spacer from the diff drop kit).

Now it just so happens that on the V6, there are brackets for the air-conditioning lines attached to the cross member under the radiator. This requires a 9mm spacer to clear the brackets. 40 + 9 = 49mm which is almost the required distance for the diff drop kit.

            So what does this mean?
Well, for those with the V6, you will be able to install a diff drop kit without further spacers required for the bashplates. [Aren't we lucky]
For those with the diesel engine AND looking to install a diff drop kit now or in the future, you would be better off with the V6 version.
For those with the diesel engine and does not see the need for the diff drop kit, you can order the normal version.

The question then is, why are there 2 versions?
I guess it is mainly for looks. If you order the V6 version, there will be a 9mm gap at the cross member under the radiator. You can hide this gap by overlapping the radiator plate (either the DIY version or the ARB bullbar plate) over the AMTS bashplate.
I hope the above makes sense.

Here is a picture of the expected gap between the front diff and the bashplate.

Could you please go back to the For Sale thread and edit your post to indicate that you want the V6 version due to the diff drop kit?

            • Couldn't resist posting a couple of photos, the plates are very well finished and would have been a dream to install if only one of my cross-braces hadn't been so dented it took a bit of work to align everything, as it sprung away under a bit of tension when I undid the bolts.

Oh, and lining up at the supermarket for the box of huggies was a pain too .

              • A couple of questions to clarify:

The AMTS plates are a direct bolt-on ie no further drilling / tapping required?

How are the sump and diff access panels fixed to the plates?

                • Only original chassis bolt holes are used in the install, no drilling required. The sump and diff access panels have recessed, hex screws fitted that are screwed into captive nuts.

                  Cheers,

Words to live by! I certainly do want them, as we are planning a tour to Longreach and Winton and surrounds, and then back home via the Whitsunday coast, so the additional under-body protection will definitely provide some peace of mind.

                        • The plates didn't last long

Those plates only lasted three days. I put them on on Sunday and by Wednesday they were all bent. I'm not sure they did their job.

                          Here's why....

Its only the second day this year I have loaned the car to my youngest

I guess I will have to order another set soon.

The up side is that they will be replacing the bumper with a bull bar
