  • Bushranger hot water shower heat exchanger

Hey, if anyone can help us it would be appreciated. We purchased one of these to place under our bonnet. Trouble is the water coming out of the shower head is far too hot for anyone to have a shower. We had a mechanic look at it and says it is installed correctly and wouldn't recommend placing a valve on the line. We have a 11/2006 D4D prado GXL diesel. We took the car to ARB Newcastle (where we bought if from and told us there wouldn't be any issues) and they told us to run it without turning the car on but then it didn't get hot enough. Can anyone help us with this or have we wasted our money?

    Hi

Depending on how you set it up, you can turn your heater in the car to cold. If you have set it up inline with your heater hoses turning the heater off stops the hot water flowing through the exchanger.

I this doesn't work try see how hot the water is if you unscrew the shower head off. If the head is restricting the flow, it spends to much time in the exchanger and gets to hot. If this fixes the problem either change the shower head or drill out the holes with a bit bigger drill bit.

Try it I guess. Hope it helps.

Hi, Thanks for that. By turning the heater in the car off or down to cold it didn't make any difference. The water was still too hot to even stick your hand in. Something to do with the constant flow heater??? We will try your other suggestion though - thank you. ARB Newcastle suggested we try to run it without running the car but it didn't get hot enough that way and too hot with the car running.

Hi, we had the same problem but by using it without the car running we were able to get enough heat to shower but not burn the skin off! Perhaps you could try running the car first to get the exchange system warm and then switching the car off while you shower? It will get cooler as you go (like at the bottom of your hot water tank at home). Good luck!!

We heat the water in buckets first with the motor running then turn the motor off, run the pump (recycle the water) to remove the residual heat in the exchanger, then shower without the motor running. 2 x 20Lt in heaps for the 4 of us.

Hi, Can anyone tell me which heater hose is the correct one to run the exchanger though on my 2013 150. Top or bottom coming out of the firewall?
            Thanks

On the 120 the top pipe coming out of the firewall is the heater water out hose. Not sure if the 150 is the same
