  • Prado lightbar on stock bumper

    Dear All,
any ideas on fabricating a lightbar for 120 with stock bumper. Here in the sand the metal bumpers are not helpful, and I have no plans for winch, but need some more light when driving in the dunes at night.

Read a thread the in venezuela they have bars that attach to the radiator mounts and clear under the front grill, unfortunately the poster never got around to posting a pic and have sent the member a message but no reply yet.

G'day, you could mount the driving lights on top of the car by fixing them to a roof mounted bar or carry rack. That way you'd also have the lights up higher giving you more spread, which I imagine, would be very helpful going up and over dunes.

Another option to search the web for is a 'nudge bar', or even a basic mount above the number plate. Cheaper than fitting a full replacement bar if you don't need it....

Keep in mind though the light beam will only be as steady as the mounts the lights are fixed to. I've seen flimsy mounts and people complain the lights wander/dance or waver all around the place. They don't realise it's not the light bracket causing poor performance but actually the mounting point.

    Good luck!
    Cheers

Perhaps a nudge bar with the light bar incorporated into it like this?

check out jhiace's build up thread, he has incorporated a light bar into his front bumper. he's done a fantastic job on it and blends in nicely.
