  • Using Rear Leveling Air Compressor for On-board Air?

I just removed my airbags and was wondering if anyone has used the stock air compressor as an on-board air system. It seems that with the addition of a small tank, it could work great. Any ideas?

I think the airflow is too low.

Not sure of the performance stats on the Rear Airbag compressor TexGX. Certainly with the right sized tank it may make sense to not let it go to waste. Haven't heard of anyone locally use it for this purpose but you never know...

It is worth looking into. AMTS, I was thinking that may be the case, but it does have enough pressure to raise the rear with a lot on weight on it. I thought the air tank maybe a good way of building pressure.

You might be able to build enough pressure but there might no tbe sufficient volume to 'do useful stuff'

Reviving and old thread for a twist...

My Grande has had the factory airbag/rear axle setup removed in favour of a gxl rear end and airbag man airbags. The factory compressor is still there. I was wondering if anyone has used the factory compressor and in cab controls to manage the airbag man airbags? This would negate the need to dig out the air line to manually change the pressure. Get in cab pressure gauges and the ride height control to raise or lower pressure.

Be interested to know if this has been done and if so how exactly you went about it?

            Cheers

Could be done, but for the cost of hassling around with the wiring and attempting to disconnect and setup its easier to for a small compressor onboard. You will have certain error codes thrown with the compressor wiring changed. Seen it before.
