  • Rear Draw/Fridge slide mount options.

I have a fridge slide, I'd like to mount in the back of my 120.
My plan is to make a full sized false floor, using one side to mount the fridge and maybe some other bits, leaving the other side still fully usable by the third row seat. I will be cutting out the hole for the seat base to drop into.

Anyway, reading through what others have done, and there are some awesome ideas out there, I have decided I'd like to try and use the brackets that the third row seat swings on to make up something then bolt the fridge slide to.
My only other option to to try and remove the luggage tie downs and use these holes, but a quick feel around last night for a bolt to unscrew, left me wondering. Does anyone have detail photos and even measurements of what they have made to mount to either of the above options?

Thanks in advance for your help. Currently have the slide mounted to a piece of MDF, but it obviously slides all over the place..

    Mark.

    Hi Mark,
I've built a false floor for previous trips which utilises the entire rear space (both rows of rear seats removed), as I installed tie down points into the floor to allow me to tie down the fridge, other containers etc...
The bolt holes I used are the bolts which hold rear brackets which lock the 3rd row of seats to the floor. I removed one of the bolts and went to a bolt supply shop and purchased longer high tensile bolts which allowed me to bolt the false floor to these locations.

    cheers,
    Brad

Mark why do you want a full sized floor? You can easily make a half width base for a fridge and leave the other side free.

        Thanks Brad.
MJ, basically for stability of the base. There is not much towards the middle of the rear to bolt a half floor down to, but reading Brads comment above, I may be able to use the rear seat hold down points...
I'll look into it after easter.

Mark this is what I did. Should be enough info there and from memory there was another PPer who did a single side jobbie. I made up two J bolts and hooked them around the loops that the seat clip into. I also slotted the base with the router to allow the tie down point to poke through. The bolts came up through the board and I had a washer and nut to tighten them. I cut a slot in the top of the bolt with a hacksaw so I could turn the bolt to engage the loop and also hold the bolt while I tightened it. I had this in for 5 years. Took it out 3 or 4 times and that was a 10 minute job. The board never moved. Nor did the fridge. The other 3rd row seat fitted and could be used. Only thing I would do differently is make the baseboard out of 12mm ply and not mdf (that is buy some material don't just scab what is lying around left over from another project). Didn't actually cause any problems but it would have been better if a bit more solid. And the drawer was handy and accessible.

That whole thread is worth a read even if you aren't building a full set of drawers. Some damn fine workmanship on show and good ideas.

                Heres some better shots
Ive now cut out around where the right hand 3rd row mounts are in the floor so it can be put back in if needed and fridge can stay in place. Also covered it all in carpet. Another shelf clips into RHS seat mount and clamps onto side of fridge slide.

The clips bolt through to 8mm T nuts on underside of floor. Can remove whole floor in a few minutes then when time to put back just lift up the original tiedowns and floor drops in over them. Slide is held in the same way with 4 Tnuts.
