Re: D.I.Y Autometer AutoTrans Temp gauge install (new mount)

Just wondering if someone knows what the legallities of having the gauges mount on the A-pillar are? I've heard and read that something along the lines of 'so long as it doesn't affect the drivers vision out the window. But also that there have been defects reported by people that have had them mounted in such a fashion, and then others that haven't been defected as well.

On the other hand, seeing gauges in that location seems minor when one considers that most GPS devices have suction mounts to the windshield and can be placed just about anywhere, and also the devices that taxis have mounted on the dash infront of the driver. Most taxis these days possibly including a GPS as well?

Thinking about driver vision in that regard, should we not be able to mount gauges wherever we want?
Not wanting to hijack the thread, but seems relevant with this type of install?

    Cheers. Matt.

Re: D.I.Y Autometer AutoTrans Temp gauge install (new mount)

      hi all
just installed my auto meter trans. toil temp gauage , but i had it installed after the cooler , reason for that is i installed a bigger cooler and there is no place to fit it in the in side of the cooler, however , my question is what temp. do you get from your gauages, mine is in fehrnhaiet becouse i got the gauage from usa , it usualy redas 125 F - 150 F and once it passed the 150 in a heavy traffic day.
      100 F is 37 C
      125 F is 51 C
      150F is 65 C

      the installed gauage

the connection , notice that i decided to keep it that way when the connection was machined , and drilled ahole in it to fix the earth wire.

Does anyone know what size the oil lines are for the D4D? I can't work out if they are 1/2 or 3/8.
Haven't managed to locate any usefull info written down the side of the hoses.

Anyone know what happened to the original post? All I see are the replies (and one quoted the original post but without the relevant pics or links). I've seen other old DIYs where the first post is nonexistant also.
