  • Aftermarket front seats

Anyone fitted aftermarket front seats? If so what did you fit?

Im keen to upgrade to something a little more hugging, nothing too harsh as the factory ones are a bit soft for my liking.
Prado 120 petrol, TRD supercharger, front/rear airlockers, profender suspension, superior UCA's and trailing arms, 4.56 nitro gears, arb winchbar, winch, ipf spots, 285/70/17 Bfg muds km2's, UHF, awning, steel roofrack, buds sliders, rear drawers, extractors/exhaust, plus a heap of other crap.

Here is a thread on this exact subject, http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...ermarket-Seats

the guy who started that thread ended up with the Recaro's. Have a look here http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...s-2005-120-GXL

I have actually sat in that vehicle with those seats, personally I didn't like them, but the owner and his wife love them.

    Cheers Adnrew

I'm that guy! We still have the Recaros in the car. They are great if you fit into them. Depending on how umm -wide you are they might not be the best option.

You do sit a fair bit lower which i like as I'm tallish.

        Any questions- fire away.

I don't have recaros in the Prado (yet) but I have driven over 500k kms in them. Once you have some it's very hard to go back to standard seats.

The side support is a big factor, but so is the the resilience of the seat base and the selection of supportive foams. The seat adapts to your body shape over time. If you think they are comfy when new, they only get better. Standard seats only get worse. The frame is also way stronger than a standard seat. My DD has Koenig seats in it which are nearly as good and not worth pulling out to replace with Recaros. Side airbags in the front seats are the only reason the Prado still has standard seats...
