Following on from Matt's Nokia Bluetooth install Here I just had to have a go at setting my phone up properly.
I wanted a setup that allowed me to charge the phone in the cradle ('cause I'm always forgetting to do it), allow me to yak hands free, and have the ability to add an external antenna.
I got this kit ... off Ebay for $67.00 + postage
The microphone lives at the top of the A pillar. The cable run is easy as it all sneaks into the cavity when the door rubber is removed. Then its just a small feed through to the footwell.
I mounted the phone cradle on the RHS of the central dash module. This involved a lot of holding the cradle in place while Bek climbed in and out of the car and looking, critically, at it. This was the spot that she hated the least ... so this is where it stays
The cables run through a small cavity behind the UHF head unit .... and this would be the bit I like the least. I'm going to spend a bit of time playing around with re-routing these cables to neaten everything up.
It meant swapping the UHF mic to the other side ...
... and the speaker lives on a custon bracket up above the left foot .... next to the UHF radio.
The control box lives up on top of that air vent (near the speaker).
There's battery power, 'ignition sensing' Aux power, earth ... and a yellow wire for radio mute. That's the only bit I haven't put in yet 'cause I don't know where to look ops: ..... and I ran out of time to pull the whole dash apart to get to the radio ops:
Cheers
