  • Rear fridge installation *updated*

I have toyed with a few ideas on how to install my 60 litre Waeco into the back of the Prado. My previous Patrol had that much space it was crazy so installation was easy but the Prado presents some challenges.

I had a marine ply and carpet base and my Waeco slide for a few months but now I have gone out and had a custom made frame built which gives the fridge and slide a solid secure and well ventilated place in the back.

It is still a work in progress so you'll see the finished product soon.

Back of the truck with the modified rubber mat from Supercheap Auto. I would do this differently now I have discovered a place on the Gold Coast that sells all kinds of rolled rubber.

First installation of frame. Welded aluminium sections with slide attached

    View from back

    Close up of slide

Slide extended. It is amazingly solid

Close up of mounting. High tensile gal bolts driven into rear seat mounts in floor. Additional holes made by fabricator before he tested the fit in the truck

    Fridge and battery pack installed
