  • ARB airlocker special

Hmmm....I'm wondering what will happen if I fit lockers to the Grande with Traction control?
Thoughts everyone, will it get upset over it?

  • #2
Yeah I know, I discovered an issue with the Bl**dy traction control the other day that caused us to have to winch out.
LSD or Locker I reckon we had a 80% chance of driving it out.

Embi, your VX might have the same issue? Is that non LSD?

      MTR's Bugger me slads!
I just spoke to ATS 4x4 about it, he see's no issue with fitting a locker to the rear, Traction shouldn't get to upset over it.

The situation was a case of driver error ops: going into the dune, as I slowed almost to a stop cresting it, and hence dropped it on it's guts!
MTR's and a locker may have pulled it out backwards, who knows..

Any idea on the cost of them Slads? (Before we take the thread off topic..)

Better hang off buying the new Camera Lenses that have taken my interest this week as my retail therapy hit!

Quoted $1571 Rear, $1699 Front. (Fitted).

If your in a club its a bit cheaper this is retail pricing. Sounds like your mate only got about 70 bucks off

The mini comp is worth $ 290 and the larger is about $390. (Cant remember the exact price).

              Guys,
I have looked into this special and if you fit front and rear then the price I'm getting installed in Brisbane is 3430 which includes a fitting charge for the free large compressor.
If you just want to fit the front locker (since the 120 has LSD rear) it costs 1699 fitted but that is with the small compressor that will not pump up tyres.

I now have a price of 2019 for front only on the 120 with the large compressor and tyre inflation kit (although no tyre repair kit) but I am going to ask about this when I order since the tyre repair kit should still be included as part of the original special.

I'm happy with that, it means I get to see how the combination front locker plus rear LSD works for my on sand towing and if I still think I need the rear I can fit it later without missing out on any of the savings.

I also thought the rear would be advisable, due to the failure of rear diff's
and the failure on the crown wheel is due to:-

"The teeth break because the crownwheel can flex away from the pinion, so each tooth is then On its own, not supported by the teeth behind."

From what I understand there has been over 250 broken diff's out there.

FWIW, I've been quoted $1,550 for the rear locker and the small compressor all installed and +$100 for the larger compressor. These prices were from Macquarie 4x4 and are valid until end of May (tomorrow).

                    Traction control vs lockers. hmmm.....

Ends Thursday AFAIK, and the dates always were March through May since the special started. I think they are just trying to stimulate the market.

I'm convinced, placed my order today. Rear locker and big compressor. Can't wait - then again I can't wait to get my flamin' 120 back from the dealer! :-)

                      Go 4 it.
