Re: Custom Shovel Holder
Alright had a crack at making my own shovel holder to go on my rear bar. Idea was to hold the shovel on the inside of the swing arm between the spare and door. I wasn't to sure how to attach it so I used steel bands to strap it on. Not sure how they will hold up offroad and if it will move at all but I'll have to wait and test it out. I put strips of rubber backed carpet between the holder and the arms frame and inside of steel bands to stop rubbing on metal to metal surfaces and hopefully some grip to stop movement offroad. I welded a nut on up top and wing nut to the bolt to make it easy to turn so I can lock the shovel in the square tube. I put a small bolt through the bottom for the shovel end to rest on. I put a eye bolt into the end of the shovel handle and welded a chain link on the bottom so I could lock the shovel to the holder to stop someone nicking it. I'm not to sure about the holding strength of the steel bands so if someone has any ideas in how to improve/strengthen the attachment I'm all ears.
And yes my welding skills are very average...
Cheers
