  • Fog Lights switch

hey, I have a Prado GX, does anyone know if by fitting the GXL indicator stalk and plugging in some fog lights whether they will work? The wiring for the fog lights is already there at the bumper end, they just have to be plugged in.
I have seen in another forum that it works on the Landcruiser 100, just wondering if anyone has done it here?
    thanks

    Re: Fog Lights switch

I would say yes, as I did the same thing on our Corolla.
We also had to put a relay into the correct spot in the fuse box and it all worked fine.
Check your fusebox as it should be labelled for a relay, but it may or may not have one fitted.

    Cheers, Mat

thanks Mat! It does work. Replaced the indicator stalk with the one that has the fog light switch, plugged in the relay and hey presto it works like a gxl, dash board fog light indicator included ! Makes me think the wiring harnes is the same, at least for the GX and GXL !

Cheap compared to many others though.

The generic term "fog lights", when in some discussion - might like to bear in mind 'front fogs', or 'rear fog' since both exist.

NB - The lower red 'dummy' lamps on Prado's are a complianced rear fog lamp, DIY'ers should only connect the function as such. And of course you need to achieve focal point.

Store it in the boot. I suggest Hella Part No. 2901 - $70, or from Auto Parts Shops, - supplier "Prokit" - Item No. RG9212 - $20. Re: Fog Lights switch

Although I have the OEM front factory fog lights, I do not have a fog light indicator in the instrument cluster  Am I missing a fuse or some other piece?

No I don't think so - at least on the 90 series GXL which also comes with standard fog lights there is no indicator that they are on other than the fog switch indicator itself.

                  Re: Fog Lights switch

Hi, can anyone tell me the part number for the fog light relay for a 2007 prado? Either that or a Narva part number for the same thing.

                  Cheers

Or you could just get your hands on one of the 10,000 discarded front bumpers complete with fog lights where owners have fitted bullbars. If you're paying over $100 then you're paying too much. I've got one hanging from the rafters in my shed.

                        Prado 120 fog light relay.

Hey check this out. I was quoted $92 from Toyota for the relay. I found them on Ebay from the U.S.A at us $4.90 each. I bought 2 (one for a spare) and with postage and currency conversion they cost me au $12 for both.

.....and yes, the green fog light indicator on the dash does light up.

Relay part number AJ51, Denso brand.

Fitting fog lights to a GX 2004

Hello All i have a GX 2004 turbo diesel Prado and a standard toyota bar that came with no fog lights.

I have bought a set but do you know if i can just replace the head light switch on the column and plug the lights in or do i need a whole wiring harness. The plugs are there for the fog lights but not connected to anything on the bar end. Also do the rear fog lights work or is it not connected either.

                          Cheers

                          Nigel

The rear fog lights are not connected on any of the Australian models, they are a reflector only. If you search you will find this has been discussed a number of times.

                            Cheers Andrew
