  • Easy to install TX4400

    Here's the finished product -----> http://s749.photobucket.com/albums/xx14 ... G_0395.jpg

Any single DIN size radio will slide right in without any cutting or warping.
I also utilized the plug left behind from removing the panel - (from lighter socket)
Finish it off with a bit of carpet or rubber around the back (for cosmetics only, it's not essential) and you're ready to go.
The longest part of the whole process was running antenna lead through grommet in firewall.

    Total time - 20mins.

Thats a top spot for the UHF, nicely done. Just went out and pulled my console apart to see if I could fit a spare TX3220 in there. How did you secure it in place, did you make up a bracket that bolted to the existing bolts in the tunnel/floorpan?

Nah, it's a slight interference fit, then the lip on the radios facia keeps it up. it's never moved, but it's also a bit thicker than the GME 3000 series.

Cheers DrWato. ITs always good to have a few more options of where to mount the UHF.

          Hi guys,
This looks like a top spot for the UHF. To get that part of the console out do I need to pull the console apart or can I just lift out the front bit.
          Thanks in advance

            Steve,

From memory - (too dark outside) - pop off the silver strips that run down either side of the gear stick, then the black panel that sits between the two silver one.

            I think it's only 2 screws.

Hope this helps, sorry if it's a bit vague.

            DrWato.

              Re: Easy to install TX4400

When the CD stacker died (2nd one) I decided to use the double din place for a new radio and the UHF

The iPod is connected to the stereo with the cable coming out in front of the gear stick.
With the iPod and USB plugged in I dont need CD's at all!

The UHF mike is held on with 2 3M 'command' mounting strips which are easily removed if required.
