Has anyone had a GVM upgrade on a prado done in queensland i have searched the web but zip. I know that other landcruisers can be done and other states may let you . I ask as i had it weighed to work out what new springs to get it came in at 2620 total without trying and the GVM is 2900 any help

i don't believe toyota have done this for the prado's.
yes they did it for the 80 series (and possibly others) many years ago, but nothing since.

GVM upgrade can only be done before first rego - there's no scope to do it retrospectively once the cars been on the road as far as I am aware.

My experience is only with Patrols, however I have had 5 increased in GVM over the years, engineers will normally look at suspension,brakes,tyres and chassis.My last one was done in 2008, the law may have changed, however check it out with a local mechanical engineer, my last one cost $180.00 plus new tyres for an increase of 330 kgComment

As BribeJohn said, in qld you can get an engineers certificate (and mod plate) to upgrade vehicle GVM. We have had 2 troopies done for work, first one was 2 years old, second one was new but already registered. We are also looking into getting 2 Hilux dual cabs done (waiting for the "kit" to be made available, cheaper and easier than being the first). From memory the last troopie was a lovells kit installed by Driveline services, much better service than the first.
