  • Budget storage

G'day all, here's a cheap method for creating a storage area.

The legs are computer floor stands with a custom-wood platform. The legs and platform are tied down with 6mm rod replacing the anchor bolts. The legs are tensioned by hand. The whole thing can be removed /installed in 10 mins. The platform has a support in the center also. Wouldn’t cost more than $50 I only bought the custom-wood ($30) had the other stuff. I have two 35 ltr containers below one for tools etc and one for the wine. The height is around 200mm

Works well joz. I wish I had known about the computer floor stands. I built something similar a couple of years ago in my old 90 series but used 50x50 wooden posts. Got me around Australia and was still going strong. Are the computer stands easily obtained?

Hi, just about all new commercial buildings now have computer floors. I'm sure most computer companies would know where to get them . Do a search in your area for "computer floor systems" that will give you some idea.

        G'day joz,

Did you use the anchor points that the rear seats secure to when they are folded down for use.

Top idea, would love to see a photo of the way you anchored it.

        Cheers,
        Budgie

My car is an optioned up standard and doesn't have 3rd row seats. I removed the four tie down anchor points and replaced the bolts with threaded rod. Photo no 3
shows the tie down point on the right hand side in the normal position albeit on top of the platform.

            Cool,

I guess if you have the 3rd row you could use that as a securing point.

            Great idea joz.

No need to the 4 anchor points are all that's needed.
