    OK,

    Just measured MUMSRIG and she has come up with 5 foot 3" no shoes and basically no mods (if a little bit of lippy makes any difference?) :lol:

    Anyways (I'll get slapped later) to the Prado:

    Mods:
    Sovereign bar, Roo Lights, Dual Batts, Recovery points (Outback Ideas) in the front and 120 +/- 20litres of fuel, Toyota tow bar with Reece style recovery hitch, Home made drawers and approx 100kg's of gear in them.

    Front measures:
    Left = 550.8mm
    Right = 550.8mm

    Rear measures:
    Left = 553mm
    Right = 553mm

    Pretty even hey? I checked it three times to make sure I wasn't seeing things.....

    Going shopping today for a new suspension package with a bit of lift but we would like to maintain the drivability that it already has as it rides pretty sweet!

    Already had a price of $1325 fitted for the Blue Max suspension kit which apparently is just King Springs and Cofap shocks? Comes with 3 year warranty.

    I'm inclined to go with the OME as this seems to be giving the better ride out of all I have seen?! Also comes down to dollars and cents....

      Hi Mumsrig.

      Thanks for that. Be interesting to see the difference.
      Also with it stored here we can all see if you get any sag, and by how much.

      Jeff.

        Ok having soverign bar fitted next week followed by either 40mm or 50mm Kingsprings to front only depending on sag from the bar.

        Standard
        Front 505mm

        Rear 550mm (normal setting)
        Rear 590mm (high setting)

          Moto, i doubt wether their will be any sag with a soveriegn bar as it is alloy and probably not much heavier than the plastic bumper. However your front at 505mm does seem low to start.

                  Re: suspension measurements

                  [quote="jeff s"]Hi All.
                  PCM_120 is running a thread about front suspension mods. And I touched on this while in his thread.

                  I want to ask for everybody to measure their front suspension and post it here.
                  I had my front springs sag on me so I thought it would be good to have a standard and modified measurement guide for people to check.
                  Obviously it depends on if you have standard suspension or a lift and whether you have a steel bar, ally bar, dual batteries, winch or 13 spotlights etc

                  http://www.pradopoint.com/viewtopic.php?t=2449
                  Gilbo and i have our measurments and photos on the post above
                  thanks Adds

                    Hi,

                    Just fitted ARB bar, 9000 lb winch, dual battery setup (ARB), snorkel and the front measurement is 480mm, rear 560mm. Brand new car.

                    I'm getting some King Raised springs fitted to the front this Wednesday so will let you know the difference then.

                    Cheers,

                    • Hi AndyJ
                      I have updated the first post.
                      You will find that you will bottom out over fairly small rough terrain with that much weight out the front.
                      Not really because of the height, but more so the softness of the original springs/shocks.

                      it will bounce down a lot when dropping down a rock, or ledge for example.
                      Where a stiffer setup will not compress as much over the same drop.
                      So when your new kings go on it will make all the difference.

                      Your on the way to the ultimate setup. Top work.

                      Jeff.

                        • Although my Dec 1996 GXL is a 90 series, I have questions given that my measurements are:

                          Front- average 520mm;
                          Rear- average 545mm.

                          Original suspension with no mods, no cargo and half full tanks.

                          Should the front be the same as the rear? Do I need to bring up the front?
                          Going to Wagoe this coming weekend, so will measure after loading it up.

                            • Airbag Man Long Travel Air Suspension

                              Hi from all at Airbag Man.
                              We have now finished a longh travel full air suspension kit for the rear of 120 Prados, to suit a 2" lift height.

                              Prado 120 GXL Series 3 09/07
                              This is my daily driver/company test rig, measurements as follows:

                              Front
                              Standard with ARB Sahara bar and 2nd battery 511mm LHS 191mm RHS
                              2" Lift (TJM) with ARB Sahara bar and 2nd battery 570mm

                              Rear
                              Standard with 3rd row seats removed plus 60L Waeco on slide 544mm
                              2" Lift (Airbag Man) 600mm to 650mm (Slow speed extra clearance height)
                              Note that the driving height and suspension travel are not affected by weight so you get full clearance and travel even when fully loaded.
                              Our long travel kit includes custom shocks that provide more droop travel than any 2" lift kit, even with the sway bar fitted (our kit includes special bushes)
