finally installed my IronMan Suspension

Wow what a big job,To do this by one's self is a big job.But after Eight hours it is in and ready for the Wheel alignment.Thank goodnes for my IPad as I have had to look at photos of what to do whilst Im under the car.Especially how the front shocks had to be removed.I have tried to add photos but I do not have any sucsess with doing this,Have tried several times but faied every time.Any way it looks like every one elses upgrade.After my blog on doing this through a supplier that wanted to use the original front springs I now know why everyone said to forget him,As there is a big difference between the standard and the upgraded Springs.They deffinately made the spring depressors work hard.But wow it makes a big difference to the vehicles handling.

Have a look at the pictures how to in the stickies in General. If you cant get it form there let me know and i can help out..

Be good to see the vehicle.. And well done on getting new fronts. leabing the old ones in was asking for trouble.

Seriously, lift is on the cards at the moment, and I'd like to fit it myself. The rear I think is rather easy but the front is quite tricky. Is this what you found???

Good job Trev. I always reckon its better too do the job yourself if you can, you learn more about your vehicle; and you never know where you might be next time you need to work on the suspension.
Next time you will be able to do it much quicker, I swapped my front springs the other day after fitting a steel bar and winch, 2 hours to do the front, rear could be done in about half that time (but ive done it a fair few times now)
My spring compressors are going to Adelaide in a few weeks for another PP member to use, Happy for them to do the rounds if others want to use them.

Hi all that have replied.Ian any weekend it is not an easy job by one;s self but with Two it would be easy.The only thing that you will need to get is some spring depressors.I borrowed some from a Freind but bent them as they were only Three eigh thick threaded bar.You need at least Halth inch bar to survive the depression of the front springs.If you would like a hand send me a pp with you;re details and I would be glad to help.I have most weekends free after Twelve on Saturdays.And Sundays my partner works so I have free time then.And Matty I need some one to show me how to down load the pictures.I have tried for abot Three hours with no sucsess.Not very freindly with computers,Even though I use one all day at work.As you said the rear is fairly easy but the fronts are difficult by es self.Especially getting the botto arm low enough to get the shocker into the holding position.Thanks a heap to me girl she helped pul down on the trailing arm the get the shock in.Any way any one needing a hand I,m in.

Now this is sounding like fun! I'm in and can supply the vehicle and parts. AJ120 can lend the spring compressors, big-trev has the shed and experience, and Matty can bring the beer (of course he'll probably get bogged somewhere on the day).

Trev - which coils did you go with? And is your bar alloy or steel? I've got sovereign alloy, so don't want to go too heavy duty on the front in case its too hard riding.

Where are you guys located? I'm in Mawson Lakes and had booked AJ120's spring compressors. I'm not in a hurry to use them. Still doing suspension component measurements for my experiment.

Amts - I'm up the top of Para Hills so not far at all! Maybe we could knock off two cars in a day?? I have a few things on in April, so realistically, aren't looking to fit the springs until early May. What are you going with in terms of shocks / springs??

Matty - the only reason you get bogged more is because you go harder than others mate ;-) That's what the car is for so you should be proud :-) BTW - what ever happened with the fuel light?

Amts - I didn't realise yours was the grande! Good luck with that one! Midlifecrisis (aka rob) lifted his grande. Maybe pm him?

I'm in Rostrevor so not too far away.April is out for me as I,m off to Alice for work on the Tenth to the Sixteenth then Easter so it looks like May is good, as my Missus is going home for a couple of weeks so I will be free from the Fifteenth to the Twenty Nineth,But any weekend is fine as with Two it should only take a couple of hours.Unfortunately I do not have a shed did it all in the driveway.Just backed up to the Carport to do the back then turned around to do the front. I have a well Cemented drive way.

I'll see what components can be used from the 150. I've read a lot about lifting the Grande but they cost big bucks. If the 150 suspension is a no go, then I am likely to go for the Kings/Bilsteins or Ridepro/Bilsteins combo. At the moment, the 150 rear shock looks promising. Maybe it'll just be the front that I have to spend money on.

Maybe we should take this conversation to a new thread if a tech day is being organised. Getting a bit off topic from big-trev's original post :wink:
