Advice on Replacement shocks

The time has come to replace the original the original schocks before the new tyres. No suspension mods. I have not been able to identify a really relevant thread using forum search. I would appreciate comments/advice on members experience, cost and reliability, with different brands of gas shocks not foam cell. I am leaning to KYB and have been offered Monroes.
