Hey amts,

Some more corrections for the database;

1. 150 series front coil = 345mm (measured).

2. 150 series rear coil = 375mm (measured).

3. All Ridepro coils need their spring rates corrected so they read the same as their Dobinson equivalents.

4. In the database there are some Bilsteins struts and shocks that have closed-open lengths WITHOUT the shroud spacer, such as the 712, and there are some WITH the shroud spacer, such as D563.

For clarification;

BE5-A712 427-552mm (ring eye center to shaft flange) 435-560mm (including 8mm shroud spacer)

BE5-D563 427-567mm (ring eye center to shaft flange) 435-575mm (including 8mm shroud spacer)

5. Some Bilstein lengths are incorrect;

24-238762 425-570mm (including 8mm shroud spacer/hand measured)

24-217897 380-610mm (including 8mm shroud spacer/hand measured)

BE5-A715
24-238830 370-587mm (ring eye center to shaft flange) 378-595mm (including 8mm shroud spacer)

B146-1478S 380-591mm (ring eye center to shaft flange) 388-599mm (including 8mm shroud spacer)
B146-1478LT (yet to be determined)

6. I am guessing the 5100 series lengths quoted include the shroud.

7. Minor typo for Dob"o"nsons MR59-50701 rear shock, change "o" to "i".

I think it's better to quote all the closed-open lengths as shroud inclusive measurements, as this is how most will run their struts/shocks.

Some manufacturers do not supply a shroud with their struts, such as the Koni 88-1712 strut, so its quoted lengths are ring eye center to flange.

Another rear shock to add, Koni 88-1689, 372-612mm (includes shroud).

This is an 80 series Landcruiser shock which some may prefer to the short 90 series RAIDS.

I have some updated measurements for the Dobinsons MRR's for the 120. (These are over the phone, not measured.) Waiting for the closed length of the 60701, should hear soon I hope!

Hey photoprado,

Very nice if that 60701 is 376-615mm and includes the shroud.

At 376mm closed, that is 60% bumpstop compression allowed for. Space it down 10mm and you have 80%, which is what Toyota have engineered for the OEM 150 rear shock (has changed from 100% to 80% going from 120 to 150).

Keep in mind the only way you'll ever bump out a 376mm closed rear shock in the 120 is by getting the rear end airborne. If you're putting in your rear airbags, I wouldn't even both spacing the bumpstop.

That type of shroud should not impact on the open/closed lengths as it is attached to the eye end of the shock.

FJ OEM front coil spring rate = 617lb/in

FJ OEM rear coil spring rate = 190lb/in

Hilux OEM front strut 430-555mm, OEM free height = 360mm, OEM spring rate = 565lb/in

Another update on Dobinsons MRR

Front: MR59-50700 427-570mm 150 shock. Order with 221 shock bush if fitting to 120.
Rear: MR59-50701 362-605mm 120/150 version length spec changed.

Couldn't get the specs for MR59-60701 confirmed. Dobinsons said it was not suitable. Not sure what's up there...

Change:
Rear: Dobinsons MR59-60701 605 229 376 (Optional rear) 60mm body
Rear: Dobinsons MR59-50701 605 243 362 Length can be ordered to 615mm by trimming internal bumpstop.

60701: This is a wider body shock. The standard Dobinsons MRR for Prado is 50mm diameter (first two letters after the MR59-) I didn't check specifically, but I think this shock is the same length as the 50701 and actually has a standard extended length of 605mm. The length can be ordered to 615mm by having the internal bumpstop trimmed by 10mm.

Add:
Rear: Dobinsons MR59-60682 630 ??? ??? (Optional rear) 60mm body LC100 rear shock.

Hey,

Another update for the database, I have lengths for King Shocks 10 way adjustable OEM replacements;

Front coilover is part 25001-261A, lengths 440-565mm

Rear shock is part 25001-262A, lengths 403-618mm

There is also an 80 series rear shock available, part 25001-257A, lengths 398-650mm.

You can get non-adjustable versions with out the "A" in the part number.
