    Hey wheelan,

    Suspension droop was not invented by PP!

    Just google suspension droop.

    Hey amts,

    I finally have some strut, shock and coil dimensions from TJM.

    Front strut XGS Gold 659GE188L 420-560mm

    Front coil 770FR88I 375mm/565lb/in

    Rear shock XGS Gold 650GE288L 375-600mm

    Rear coil 770RR88I 390mm/260lb/in

    TJM tell me that this is 120 running gear. They also suggested 10mm maximum coil seat spacer.

    For the 150, TJM use the new 4000 series struts/shocks (which are just a 15mm longer shaft), but use the same 120 spec coils above;

    Front strut 4000 series XS188L 435-575mm

    Rear shock 4000 series XS288L 390-615mm

    I believe the TJM coils are made by King.

    Edit: TJM head office provided incorrect figures above.

    These have now been corrected;

    659GE188L 420-555mm (120 strut)
    XS188L 420-555mm (150 strut)

    650GE288L 378-599mm (120 shock)
    XS288L 375-600mm (150 shock)

    Hi all, long time no post. Just added data for the Toughdog BM401118 rear shock, which is a long travel option for the Prado 120, utilising the 120 bushing and smaller top pin when compared to the BM401111 which is more suited to the 150.

    This rear shock may be of particular interest to Grande owners looking to be able to dial out the high rebound common to most 80 series valved rear shocks. These adjustable shocks change the rebound rate by around 90% while only changing the compression by 10%. I have found that a high rebound is not always desirable with pneumatic suspension unless you are carrying heavy rear loads. Under some circumstances and when lightly laden, the VSC can trigger if the suspension is too restricted in rebound after sudden compression.

    Also note that while the closed length of 380mm seems high, it is still shorter than the 386mm closed length of the standard Toyota TEMS shock:

    Toughdog BM401118 open length 620mm closed length 380mm.

    Rear: Dobinsons MR59-50701 605 243 362 Length can be ordered to 615mm by trimming internal bumpstop.

    60701: This is a wider body shock. The standard Dobinsons MRR for Prado is 50mm diameter (first two letters after the MR59-) I didn't check specifically, but I think this shock is the same length as the 50701 and actually has a standard extended length of 605mm. The length can be ordered to 615mm by having the internal bumpstop trimmed by 10mm.

    Add:
    Rear: Dobinsons MR59-60682 630 ??? ??? (Optional rear) 60mm body LC100 rear shock.

    That type of shroud should not impact on the open/closed lengths as it is attached to the eye end of the shock.

    Hey photoprado,

    Very nice if that 60701 is 376-615mm and includes the shroud.

    At 376mm closed, that is 60% bumpstop compression allowed for. Space it down 10mm and you have 80%, which is what Toyota have engineered for the OEM 150 rear shock (has changed from 100% to 80% going from 120 to 150).

    Keep in mind the only way you'll ever bump out a 376mm closed rear shock in the 120 is by getting the rear end airborne. If you're putting in your rear airbags, I wouldn't even both spacing the bumpstop.
