Ok, the rear leak has been traced to the top of the drivers side airbag. Following our latest trip, the leak is more pronounced and easy to hear. Consensus between Mannells and the Airbag Man is that the (previously slow, now pronounced) leak is the likely reason why the self levelling wasn't working and that fixing the leak should solve the problems.

So, new long travel airbags as a necessity rather than a' nice to have'. I'm being recommended OME replacement shocks to go with the longer airbags - I'm assuming they are shocks for the 150, as the ones for the 120 only appear to have the same open length as the Bilsteins already on the vehicle.

The PP discount from the Airbag Man certainly makes the overall cost a bit more palatable.

Way2go, Glad you got to the bottom of the problem. If you don't mind me asking, what sort of price are you looking at from the airbag man. am thinking of doing a lift in the future and am interested in finding out how much it could cost.

      Cheers,
      Paul.

I've been quoted $911 for the kit, delivered to Sydney, and with the PP discount.

Plus new shocks, plus fitting of everything.

(That doesn't include the rear swaybar spacers mentioned in another thread - when I spoke to the Airbag Man people they said they've never used them with the extended airbags and see no need for them).

I have just noticed the passenger side of my Grande (2008) lifted with Bilsteins, sitting about 20mm lower.
Have checked the fuses, they are fine - have read above but can not locate the sensors - can somebody post up a pic of where they are located.
would like to measure the locations before going to Toyota ...etc
the height adjustment is working fine, cant hear any leaks and it still sits at the lower height on the left when in H.N.L

2 years after the last post and someone has similar problem, unfortunately this is me. After fitting atms's airbag spacers, I hope to see the rear raise at least 3cm but infact it's still the same level as previously at 740cm. I attempted to adjust the height sensor but it does't seem to be any higher. I even moved it to the bottom as the top position doesn't work.

The L-N-H setting is still working fine as I see the height changed according to the settings but it is way too low given that the airbags are sitting on the 3cm spacers. Would the compressor detect the air pressure and stop pumping at the correct pressure when the car is at the certain height, that would explain why the height is still the same with the spacers.

The only thing i haven't done is putting the washers to the sensor bracket like this

It this stage, I'm too tired and thinking about converting to spring suspension, is there anyone here did that?

You're supposed to space down the spacers as per the last picture you posted. 3:1 ratio. 1mm spacer gives 3mm height increase.

                Will do.

By the way i found a very useful document about those bloody sensors http://www.moranbahweather.com/toyot.../m_05_0598.pdf

This is for 2005 LEXUS GX470 REPAIR MANUAL, very similar and no font error
                http://st.club-lexus.ru/files/05_486_745.pdf

This is the 4runners version, very detail
                http://www.top4runners.com/ja/2007/lift/rearair.pdf

This is from the toyota magazine or something (about 4runners but it is very similar to Prado GRANDE)

I have a broken sensor, well the metal bracket that goes between the sensor and the small tie rods. Do you think I can find one in Sydney.... Toyota 2-3 weeks from Japan. Wreckers... what part, where does it sit, na-mate we wont have that.

                      Toyota Part number 89407-60022

Surely Grande drivers are not that good they never write off their vehicles.

Must be the day for it.. Noticed mine has been dropping to low every now and again. and today the level button in the console has stopped working.. Wont lift it, can drop to low, but wont go up. Drive off and it levels to normal at 15 Kmh.

I would try to weld it back :P

People said that Amayama ship the parts normally within a week. 228AUD is pretty expensive and why don't they have the left side and right side like the airbags?

Well a couple of hours this evening all fixed. Was a seized ball joint.
I guess loading the camper activated the ride height controls, but the seized ballpoint caused the sensor arm to snap.

Lots of WD40 and heat freed the ball joints up. Then braised the Sensor arm plate back together.

I spent $220 on wheel ramps and kebabs. Money well spent.

                            Cheers
