    Forgot to add, that you can change the front strut without touching the steering arm or removing the sway bar and bash plate.

    Update on the upgrade. So far done a shiteload of driving on it:
    Highway driving is good - fair bit less body roll, slightly smoother ride. Touch more wind noise.
    Offroad - a lot more comfy, even the wife and kids noticed straight away the difference, wife has a bad back so she whinges a bit No more issue with dips or crests at speed. Corrugations = a lot less banging around and less movement of the vehicle on the track.
    On/offroad towing - a shedload better.

    All in all, a very happy upgrade path. Should have done it a lot earlier!

      However I’m a bit confused as Double_D posted a RR/RL measurement of 850/855 and said only 20mm droop in the rear. Another post had a rear measurement of 860 and someone said there wouldn't be much down travel left in the shocks.

      What is confusing me is my rear is around 850mm and I have a lot more droop than 20mm. Perhaps I’m not understanding droop or how to measure it. I lifted a wheel off the ground on a track and measured from the bottom of the rim through the centre to the wheel arch and subtracted my normal flat ground value and got a figure around 125mm. Am I measuring wrong? What is a normal amount of droop at an average rear height of say 820?

      I have OME 896 springs with 60004 shocks. I will measure again and post exact measurements when I get a chance.

      Sorry my measurements were at the shock, not at the wheel... so at the shock I only had 20mm left of downtravel... with the TD I have 80mm, this would equal a lot more at the wheel when flexed up.

        Old suspension measurements with a Sov bar and near MT tanks
        FL =738mm
        FR = 740mm
        RL = 770mm
        RR = 774mm

        Fitted OME 884s to front, 895s to rear, with Nitro shocks all round
        FL =815mm
        FR = 815mm
        RL = 825mm
        RR = 825mm

        The most notable difference on a short trip into town was the reduction in body roll

            Question re. sagging springs: My rear OME springs -895- have sagged unevenly . They have done 17000 km including 11000 km on recent CSR trip. The LHS rear has sagged more than the RHS and this was apparrent before the trip. I tend to leave the 2nd tank full so there is the battery and the tank on that side. LF down from 795 to 785;RF down from 795 to 790- both acceptable. For the rears the LH is down from 813 to 793 ]bad!] while the RH has gone UP from 810 to 820!!! -possibly because the LH is down 20mm- unacceptable. The question is: is this a warranty issue? OR, since I am soon to put some polyairs in should I just put a bit more in the lhs OR stick a spacer in. If the latter, where do I get them? other than that I have been very happy with this set up with the new Nitrocharger shocks. When you look at the car from the front it looks lopsided. Neil

              ring the arb store you got them from and have a chat to them or better still take the vehicle down to them and see what they say, if they do the right thing you should get a favourable outcome. cheers samo

                            After 2 years, a new bar and a winch the numbers had settled considerably.

                            Front: 745mm
                            Rear: 800mm

                            So I had some Dobinson HD springs fitted all round. Here's the new numbers (including 2 full tanks, 2 batteries, drawers, fridge and rooftop tent all over the rear)

                            Front: 800mm
                            Rear: 840mm

                            I was told that at this height the shocks don't have enough travel (short by about 10mm) so will be hoping for a little bit of settling. The guy who fitted them said Dobinson are starting to use their Hilux front struts on the Prados as they have more travel. Does anyone have any info to support/debunk this?

                            I would have preferred a bit more at the front and less at the rear but when both tanks are full and the back is loaded it levels out nicely. Improvement offroad is out of sight regardless.
