Suspension Spacers.

Hi all,

I have a August 2007 GXL D4D, and I am quite happy with the way the factory suspension handles (compared to Gabriel coils/shocks I had in 90 series), and I would like to lift the vehicle. I was thinking of keeping the factory coils and using 40-50mm spacers to give me the lift, and change to aftermarket shockies. Has anyone done this, and what is the pros & cons? What shockies are good for this?

In Queensland I am sure spacers are illeagal.
Far better to spend a little extra and get Old Man Emu or simular. If cost is a main factor, buy the parts and fit it yourself, leaving only the wheel alignment.

surfdaddy the spacers would work ok providing you installed ya longer aftermarket shocks to suit. but they r illegal and while you have the front strut out you might think about installing new springs. I chose to install an ironman 2inch lift in my 120. It was price driven and at $1100 install with an alignment it was a bargin. I choose the meduim kit as i dont do any heavy towing, it rides a tad firmer but thats to be expected. wheel travel is great improvment over standard and doesnt wallow over bumps anymore. What you do is your choice but i thought i would throw an iron in the fire
