Its strange I am having issues and others are not. Maybe there is an issue with my body mounts that isn't obvious. Can someone do me a favour please and measure the distance between their body and chassis
. The pictures below show where I measured mine and the measurement I had.
Drivers side 18mm
Passenger side 16mm

Interesting, I just had a look at mine and there is only a few mm clearance. The passenger side has the most clearance of the two and I think it will be ok. I spoke to the guys from Airbagman today and this is the first report of the problem. They offer fantastic after sales service so no complaints there. There must be some variation over the years in the bodies or something. Maybe there is an issue with my body mounts, I don't think so as they look fine. It is very strange that I am the only one with this problem.Originally posted by 1coolbanana View PostI just went and checked mine and I have heaps of clearance, at least 10 - 12mm easy.
Ive had a few big loads etc and it does not appear to have come anywhere near them.
I have been thinking about a slight body lift to give a little more clearance to the bolts holding my rock sliders on, as a bonus it would also give these airline fittings a little more clearance. I'm only looking at 5-10mm. Might have to do this sooner than later.
This is the view from the rear drivers wheel well.
I think I see the problem, you can see the fitting touching the body. In this position I had the airline running towards the back of the car.
Here I have moved the air line about 90Deg, it seems to give the fitting a little more clearance.
This is the passenger side, as you can see it has more clearance.

I'll have to check when I get back home but I think I put some spit tubing over my Airlines when I replaced my Airbags to protect said lines from rubbing.

Hi mate, no I haven't heard of any other failures like this, I'm just really luckyOriginally posted by 1coolbanana View PostThat sucks, well done on the fix mate
Have there been any other reports like yours?
How many k's have you done with these bags?
I have the same model and have the same airbags, Ive never checked them since installing, maybe I should!
. I have had these airbags fitted for about 12 months, mainly onroad use with the occasional weekend trips to the bush.
I intend to talk with Airbag man shortly to see what they have to say. When I look from the wheel well I can just see the fitting and it does look very close to the body. My guess is that because the body is rubber mounted it makes contact when heavily loaded or on rough roads. It really doesn't give me confidence to travel too far from home.

Check your airbag fittings
Check your airbag fittings
We went camping up at Chichester State Forrest over the long weekend so the car was fully loaded up, and we had a few days ready to explore. When I pulled up at the camp site I notices a hissing sound from the drivers side airbag. Not happy,
the start of a long weekend in the middle nowhere and the drivers side rear was dropping. After unpacking I jacked up the car to investigate. It turns out the 90deg fitting on the top of the airbag had bee rubbing on the body above and had worn the fitting so much that it starred to leak. in the second fitting you can clearly see where the fitting has been rubbing on the body. I checked the other side and is similar but not as bad. I think this is a bad design of the top late of the airbag, when comparing it to the original Toyota bag you can see that its fitting is not in the middle which gives it plenty of clearance.
It was time for some bush mechanics, I removed the airbag airline a carefully worked silicone around the inside where the leak was, then I also covered the outside of the fitting just in case. I then reinstalled everything and left it overnight unpressurised to give the silicone a chance to set. Next morning I filled the airbag and it held fine, thanks goodness. We had five other families coming out to join us I was the guide, nothing like a little pressure

Guest repliedOK, will do, and thanks for the kind comments.Originally posted by Jusso View PostAndrew, my dealer doesn't know what I'm talking about. Guest repliedThe SST does make it easier in that it will insert itself the right depth to release the tube from its receptacle. If you push a silicone nozzle in too far you risk damaging the O-ring attached to the tube.
I found it safer to pull the tubes out of the air compressor end to release the pressure in each airbag rather than cutting the tube near the airbag. This way there is some controlled release of the air in case the car starts to lower it self because it wasn't supported properly.
Also not cutting the original tube will mean that should you wish to put back factory airbags, there is still sufficient length to do so.
I have an SST if you need it but can't get it from your dealer.

HI Jusso, I hope it all goes well for you. No you don't "need" the SST mentioned al though it does make it a little easier. Have you read through the instructions that should have come with your airbags? I just checked the instructions I got, dated 26/07/13, and in step 2 REMOVE FACTORY AIRBAGS it just says to cut the existing air line in an accessible area which will later be used for joining the new airline with the supplied joiner. Its possible they have updated their kit since then but the instructions should give you clear guidance on the whole installation procedure. Hope this helps.Originally posted by Jusso View PostI'm going to attempt to install the OA6011 bags this weekend.
Is it necessary to get the special service tool mentioned? I read another thread where the person talked about splitting a silicone nozzle down its length, is that sufficient?

It now seems much stronger and I don't think it will flex under load.
