  • Just fitted tough dog 2" lift to my 04 GX

    Hi all,

Just installed a tough dog 2" kit in my 120 last night. I saw it advertised in 4wd action from powerful 4x4 they have them on sale at the moment for $960 with the struts unassembled. If you have a decent spring compressor its worthwhile as costs a few hundred extra to have them delivered pre-assembled. Overall I am very happy with the ride and I got the full 40mm lift which I am very happy with as the belly just srubbed too much off road.

I will throw some piccies up soon when I get a chance.

Nice.. I've got the same...I've also got the adjustables but never adjust them!! From memory mine were all separate but a mechanic fitted them for me. I've always been very happy. With the Med spring it lifted the sagging front off the ground and I think it gave me around 40mm increase. Had to trick the rear a/b sensors. I remember the add too! From other p.p members threads the springs are king springs but the set up is fine for me.

Pics r always nice!! I don't think you'll regret it, mine rides a lot firmer now...far less body roll and general lolling around but the old set up was gone!! Winch and x2 batts had paid the price on OEM.

You can do it without spring compressors as well

Steve....using washers to 'trick' the air bag ride height sensors: (For those vehicles with rear airbags)! Prado 2004 won't be able to do this!!!! Shd not have mentioned it???????

There's possibly a lot more treads with it documentated but these pics show you the general idea!! 1cb was a pioneer esp raising rear OEM a/bag Prado's! Doing this, naturally raises the back end!

Sorry macaroon1 didn't read it properly and thought I had read ABS not A/B meaning airbags, dickhead I am. Was wondering why you would have to trick the ABS lol. Airbags, yes now I know what your talking about... Cheers Steve

              Hi there.

Where did you find that kit for $960.00?

I was looking on their site out of curiosity & it is $1100.00 + Freight

              Regards, Jason.

                Hi wholesale,

They have advertised for the last 2-3 months in 4wd action magazine with prices that are not on their website, there is quite a few different models. It came direct from tough dog so they must have some sort of arrangement.

very happy with the ride overall, i dropped it into bridgestone this mornign for a wheel allignment so will post pics this arvo. It is noticably different when going to sit in the car, I actually need to use the sidesteps now to get into the car!

That'll learn me not to read my 4wd Action mags properly.

Glad to hear you like it.

                  Regards, Jason.
