  • Ironman springs with other brand struts?

Went for a wheel in Lerderderg State forest today and having the wife and kids in the car and a mate in his first 4x4 we didn't do anything particularly hard but after dong Radcliffe track I heard a clunking in the driver side front end. The strut had snapped at the bottom shaft where it is welded to the main shocker body. Lucidly it dropped straight and I was able to drive home.
I'm aware that Ironman are not the best quality but was wondering if I could replace both front struts with Old Man Emu, EFS, etc without doing the springs as well?
Does anyone have Ironman springs with other shocks?

Should be fine. Just check in the suspension database and find a match for another shock with the same closed length or shorter and the same extended length or longer.

    And change both sides.

Most of the springs are similar rates and lengths for a given duty so should work with different struts; check in here

Having said that my Toughdog struts did the same thing and I was going to just replace the front struts to keep the $ down. Not many places are interested in doing that particularly when it came to warranty on the new struts and in the end I just replaced the whole lot with OME.

Post up some pics, be interested to compare the failure with the Toughdogs.
