Hi im trying to decide what type of shocks to use. I like the sound of the billys setup but 20000 1year warranty is to short. Have been looking at ome or raw but can't find much talk about them good or bad. Can any one help me I do 50000 km a year mainly on tar and freeway. weekends bush tracks. :?

where do you mainly do most of your driving? on road off road. dirtroads full of corrigations etchad an 03 gx 120 with some gear now got a 2013 bt 50 GT auto some ARB gear. -
I would suggest doing a search (little button up the top) on shocks. There is dozens of threads on specifications and also members feedback on them. There is also some shock Guru's that frequent here.

Mate, if you are looking at the warranty issue, fair chance you read a bleat I made about the short warranty. If so you need to read the detail. My shock was about 80000klm old when it went. The shock was severely hit by a (large) stone or rock
Bilstein, sold me two replacements way below retail and rebuilt my other one free of charge, I call that great customer service despite the warranty. The buggered shock had nothing to do with design, workmanship or quality, the placement of rear shocks on a Prado is a design flaw as they are badly exposed to road debris and stones, thats why mine failed
I wouldnt use anything but Bilstein after my experiences across 2 Prado's and over 110,000 klm (thats how far the fronts have done without issue)
Hope that heps clarify, they arent cheap, but they are good

I have no experience with any brand over another, so I'll leave that to everyone else (I read it all with interest too!) but to answer your original question...
BlueMax have 3 year / 60000km warranty. This is King/Gabriel.
Just been shopping for suspension and these are the only ones that offer this warranty. The guy at my 4wd shop said he has fitted heaps and never had one come back, but I guess the same might be said of billies etc. :?: :!:Comment

I find it interesting listening about how smooth the ride is with this brand or how this brand or that brand doesnt fade etc. I have had two standard Toyota setups, plus a Rancho/King setup and now an all Dobinson setup and they all feel the same to me.

My Ranchos did the length of the old Ghan track a few years ago, the rubber boots actually melted they got that hot, but I didnt pick any change in their performance. The track was as rough as buggery at the end as it was at the beginning.
The Dobinsons still bounce me around just like the standard Toyota suspension did, the only difference is now I have to be careful I dont dont end up with altitude sickness or nose bleeds.
Perhaps I've just made crap decisions when buying after market kits?

I've really only ever noticed that suspension upgrades make it firmer...
Better not in this case as the Mrs won't be impressed, it's the only thing she's worried about!

We dont really have a cut off for warranty on our Ridepro and Bilstein range, as we dont get any failures, and have only done 3 shocks under warranty in all my time.
No use worrying about something you most likely will never use.Comment
