              Hi all,
can someone explain to me how a Grande can be lifted in the rear end.
ATS4x4s kit for the rear end says only limiting straps and a set of Bilstein shocks. No modification of airbag or module to adjust the speed sensor on the airbags. How can a pair of shocks lift the rear end??

there is an adjustment, as well as the shocks rrequired in the rear, but dont undo the adjuster nut, because if it breaks, [which i know afew have, people who thought "they" could do it......] its $720 and a 6 week wait for the part from japan, and you cant drive it on the bump stops or that 6 weeks...

just a note to let you know the 120 GRANDE can be lifted 40mm in the suspension with new front springs to suit extra acc like winch and bar, dual batteries etc.

We also can lift the rear, with factory air bag suspension.

Not to many have tried this, but I know there are many who require it.
HI Guys i have this fitted to my 120 prado Grande and have just returned from a trip to the high country towing an off road camping trailer.

All was great the car handled well on the road and off it through some challenging sections of very steep tracks arount Mt Pinnabar and Tom Groggan, untill on our way out along limestone track, south of Davies Plain, when on a left hairpin bend my LHS rear air bag died. The rubber bag is attached to the metal shoe (which sits on the axel) by a steel ring. This all parted company without tearing the rubber bag and with a very loud BANG! This left me with no suspension in the rear as both sides are interconnected. This was after i had the suspension upgrade and limiting straps fitted.

We had to find a replacement part as there is no way to reconnect it. (Believe me we tried in the servo in Omeo for a couple of hours.)

We limped along the rest of the track some parts very steep, loose and rough with the aid of the ARB rear air locker i had fitted at the same time.

I had to drive the car to Bainsdale Toyota 150km from camp (i think i felt every bump in that 150km) to have a new one fitted. After them telling me there were none in the country and there would be a 3 week wait for one to arrive from Japan, I located one myself in Brisbaine with the help of my dealer in Sydney. However there were only 2 in the country that we could fine.

Great trip. All seems to be good again and we are now back in Sydney.

Has anyone else had similar trouble with their suspension either with or without modifications. Darren at ats told Mannel motors about a few bags splitting hence the limiting straps.

                          Any feed back is good
                          all the best adam
                          thanks Adds

So was this caused by the lift? or failure of another component?

Not entirly sure Piggy. I think it mayhave been a combination of a sub standard air bag, the lift which i believe they reset the sensor to put more air into the bag giving a 30mm lift, hense the limitor straps and the rough terrain we were in at the time. The wheel would have been at full extension to the limit of the straps with the suspension working hard when the bag gave way.

If anyone else has had air bag suspension fail i would like to hear about it to see if this a one off or is it more common that we know about.
                              thanks Adds

Hey adds sorry to here about the airbag if i go outback i might buy a spare, how much are they?
When you lifted the front did they still use you origional shocks and does it effect your suspension control switch?
                                Cheers Moto
