  • King springs/Bilstein shocks too hard

    Hi
I just fitted new bilstein shocks and king springs, the rear springs (KTRR-102) seem good but the front springs are way too hard which are KTFR-101.
The circlip on the shocks are already on the bottom groove and the front looks about 25mm higher than the rear end.
I was thinking about getting some more grooves machined lower on the front struts or moving the circlip all the way up and trying the standard front springs.

Ive got an alloy bullbar, winch bracket and winch which add up to about 70kgs
    What should I do?

What are your actual measurements? Post up by measuring from the bottom of the wheel rim, through the centre of the wheel to the bottom of guard.

Something is very amiss there... With this springs I would've expected the front to be around 795 -800. What model shocks did you receive for the front?

Woah, something terribly wrong here. I think you might have put the spring seat upside down. Can you post a pic of the spring seat?

The spring seat should 'cup' over the circlip.

That's weird the rear is low and the front crazy high. Should be even less than 800 at the front. Did you do the fit up? Are you sure of the part numbers?

Did you do the install yourself? I'm wondering if the bottom spring seat is around the right way? The clip should be up inside this seat, not sitting underneath it...

Edit... amts bet me too it....

I was going to say, those springs should sit nice not very high but definitely higher at rear.
Front might be 770-780mm from those once you fit it up correctly.
                    About 20-30mm lifted.

I second this, i bet the spring seats have been fitted upside down too.
Seen it many times from people who should have known better.
Best one was (Cough) Pedders that fitted one the right way around and one upside down on a customers kit i sent to him,. then wondered why it sat loppy and blamed the non pedders suspension!

                      Regards, Jason.

I think this response explains it.

And make sure the lower bolt on the strut is not tightened when its in the air. If the seats were installed wrong I would check this.

Or even easier, loosen them off with it sitting, jack up, let down and then tighten them.
