Grande after market rear air bags to hard

I went ahead and changed my rear airbags with some from the air bag man to suit a 2in lift.
I also put in some toughdog adjustable shocks all round.
No matter what setting i put the rear shocks on i cant feel any difference at the rear end.
Put them on hard and the car thumps going over bumbs
Set them on the softest setting and still the same thump ?
Tested the shocks by pulling them off at the bottom mount and tried pushing by hand and soft and its easy to compress
Change the settings to hard and the shock is real hard to compress.
Its like the bags are not soft enough to lets the shocks do there job ?
Any ideas anyone ?

Have rear draws and cargo barrier also Arkpak and fridge slide

I would have thought that's a bit low for 2" lifted bags - hardly higher than the standard springs

Yes, what's the front height?
Did you adjust the rear height sensor to change the normal ride height?

Sounds like you might be riding on a fully compressed airbag.

You'll need to adjust the rear height sensor - I'll leave that to 'Mr Grande' Himself (AMTS) to explain...

I just spoke with the mob from airbag man and they are sending me out a kit to adjust the height for the airbags

If you had a 2" lift, the front should be at 790-800mm. The rear should be at 820-830mm. I don't think the rear is at full compression. Can you post a photo of the airbags?

The front has settled down to 770mm

If anything the lower ride height would mean there is less air pressure in the airbag giving a softer ride. My rear height is around 830-840mm I run Bilstein non-adjustable shocks which I think are too soft. Its possible that because the rear is softer large bumps might be causing it to bottom out on the bump stops?

They defiantly look a little low but not excessively so. Your high setting is close to my normal setting. If you think it is bottoming out on the bump stops it wouldn't be too hard to test this. Just place some sort of indicator material, e.g. blutac, grease or something similar, on the bump stop that would indicate if it had touched the diff and go for a drive in an area where you were have the previous problems. If its bottoming out its probably not your shocks. Another option is take it to Pedders Suspension and get it put on their suspension test machine, this will give you a printout of the shocks performance. If the shocks are found faulty it gives proof to take back to your supplier.
