  • Prado doing backflips

Hi guys, Under 10,000kms ago I had all my suspension in the prado (04 grande) changed out and replaced with ROX shocks, and dobinsons coils. In that time, it's done a trip up the cape, and a few little outings. Over the last few weeks, it seems to be riding progressively worse, and I'm wondering if the front shocks may be on the way out already?

If I drive out my driveway, squarely, the front of the car will bounce two or three times, before settling into normal position.

If I plant my foot while driving along, it feels like I am going to do a backflip, the front of the car lifts so much. When braking it's the same, very dive-y.

Reckon the shocks could be already saying their farewells?

Certainly sounds symptomatic of shock failure.

I was really hopeful of something a bit more entertaining than this when I read the thread title

Does sound like shocks, under 10k is a pretty poor return on a new set of shocks.

Doing "The Cape" shouldn't be overly harsh on shocks, I know some of the corrugations get pretty bad but in the scheme of things the distances aren't that great. I got around 95,000 out of my Old Man Emu shocks that included the Cape, the Simpson, Multiple High country trips, and countless corrugated outback tracks including the Gunbarrel Hwy and a few other similar tracks.

        Cheers Andrew

I knew I had to be creative to get your attention

Yeh I figured 10k was a pretty poor effort, especially at $200 a corner. I will get them checked out in the next day or two.
