  • Bilstein Lift Kit

    I am hopefully purchasing a lift kit in the next few months for the prado, and have settled on Bilsteins. Came across this kit from 4wddirect and was wondering if these were the "right spec" ones? Thanks

    Lots of threads on lift hits. Use the search function.
    But they are the Aussie spec units. Don't forget to use the stone guards for the rear shocks.

    Rusty.

      You need to match the correct spring rate to the weight of your accessories. The ad doesn't specify the spring part numbers. So it is not definite whether it is correctly specified to suit your setups.

        Yeh realise there's a lot about this, was just unsure on the part numbers, obviously spring rates are a matter of choice. Only have a steel non winch bar so think medium will be fine. Are the Aussie spec Bilsteins the good ones?

          Have a careful read of Whitey's Blistein thread. Lots of good info in there:

              Hey scottydee,

              John is spot on, the 713 is too short for a lifted Prado. I have seen figures of around 50mm droop at 60mm lift in the rear, this is not good!

              There are much better shocks to choose from for the rear, also with better valving (713 is valved for a soft coil), see the second table in this thread here;
