Hi all - I am new to the forum and to 4wd'ing as well but thought i would share some info for any Grande owners with, or considering, lift kits.
I have a 2007 120 series Grande with 2" lift kit and extended Bilsteins- I love the features and comfort of the Grande which is about 80% a road and city vehicle. Still drives like a circa $75,000 luxury 4WD although almost 10 yrs old.
A word of caution - on a trek to Mundaring powerlines track last weekend I blew the right rear air bag and it looks like the original owner added the 2 " lift kit and did not upgrade the airbags - the factory bags are shorter and have been stretched for some time with the lift kit and with the added stress of a fully articulated wheel - they finally burst.
If you are adding a lift kit I would recommend you add the extra $$$to upgrade to extended length airbags, or if running on factory original air bags, be aware this can happen - I wasn;t going crazy but the over extension was enough to burst what was probably a deteriorating bag ?
Good news is that the replacement airbags are much better quality rubber and much thicker than Toyota airbags from 10 yrs ago so should be far more durable in future - but it has been costly.
Have to say a huge thanks to Malaga Suspensions ( Malaga Perth) who out a lot of time into the bags refit and also trouble shooting the ECM error codes and also found and replaced the compressor which had also failed......good guys to deal with, honest and no fuss with solid advice and they did have my hip pocket in mind as well.
