  • Towing with lift kit

I am looking at getting a 2 inch lift kit put on the prado grande,But i have no idea how it will affect the way the caravan hooks up to it,,does the auto level ride drop it back down or do i have to fit a lower ball mount (which i dont think you can get, gen toyota bar) or do i have to mod the carvans hitch
surely someone out there has gone through this any help with this would be great

You should be able to get a hitch where the ball sits lower. I've even seen an adjustable hitch where you can set several different tongue and ball heights. Can't think of their name at the moment. If I do I'll post it up.

What size/ weight van are you towing? I would reccomend you get youself a Hayman Reece weight distribution hitch, they are adjustable for hight and include distribution bars to keep everything running level. The only thing is they are a bit expensive, but you can keep it forever and transfer it from vehicle to vehicle.

        Hi Graz,

Not a Grande, but my GXL with a 50mm lovell lift & Hayman Reece set up, and my Eagle Outback sits about as perfectly level as you can get.

          2 inch on a Grande?

I think you better have a use of the search button to read all the threads on lifting a Grande, Maximum is meant to be about 40mm.
Perhaps you better speak to Darren from Assassin offroad (autocraft) about lifting the Grande's as he is probably the most knowledgable in Aust about doing them.

There is already a number of threads in relation to lifting Grandes. and also towing with Grandes and what happens with the airbags.

            Rob,
Nice looking setup and very level. Funny thing is I can't see in the picture the hayman reece weight dist hitch. It shows a normal towbar.
