  • Dobinsons Suspension

    Hi all,

I have been offered what seems a reasonable deal on a 35mm Lift Dobinsons Suspension package (medium duty). The kit is a fully match set of Dobinsons spring, shocks and struts, and I've been told would actually give me more like 40-50mm lift.

However, I haven't been able to find much on the Dobinsons suspension at all. I have found that they are used a reasonable amount on the Landrover Discoveries, and I haven't found any negative comments (a good thing I think).

Does anyone have any comments on the Dobinsons setups?

    Cheers,
    Ray.

Dobinsons use a Cofap shock, like EFS, TJM, Terrain Tamer, some pedders, etc, with thier coils.

      Begs,
I asked the same question, check out the post on Dobinsons in this section(17th of June 2008). Some good answers to the questions that I asked which made my decision for me.

            WRONG
All I got from Dobinsons was:

"The shocks are designed by Dobinsons Spring & Suspension and made to our specifications, not rebadged."

Any way I bit the bullet and got them.

First impressions are good. A bit firmer than stock, but not too hard unloaded. Body roll has certainly been reduced. I got about a 40mm lift (front and rear) from the 35mm kit. Haven't been able to get offroad yet to test them out, and with work cutting in to play time I don't think it will be any time soon

            Cheers,
            Ray.

I got between 165mm and 170mm up front and 120mm and 140mm at the rear on my 90 series . It was supposed to be a 50mm lift.

I've since had the front lowered a bit but I still think its too high. The front is now about level with the back but the CVs are still on quite an angle. The diff drop option looks interesting.

The most importasnt thing is down travel in the front, you should have a minimum of 60mm down travel on your 90 series. [down travel is the measurement difference between ride heiht and when the front is fully drooped]

Well theres a great stsement with nothing to back it up

Every set we have removed so far that were to short, or the customer wasnt happy with, have been.

Inc the supposed 4" lift units wich were 2" with yellow painted extension screwed on the bottom.....

EFS & XGS shocks are cofap. Don't know about Terrain tamer so i won't comment.

Ok, then if you are correct, what brand are they ?

I know the ones we have removed here are.
