  • standard height springs

With reference to the new laws to take effect in NSW on 1/8/09 re. NO LIFTS for traction/stability controlled vehicles like my 2005VX the question is"other than extreme rock hopping which I usually don't do and probably lots of us don't do,is the standard height suspension so bad ie will uprated springs and shocks to suit heavier loads but without the 50mm lift suit most of us most of the time? Where will we get caught out without that extra 25-50mm? I have to decide before 1/8/09 ie next week, or do with the latter option. Neil

    Re: standard height springs

Standard height suspension will get you to 90% of the 4wd destinations in Australia. You'd be surprised how capable a standard 4wd is.

I've seen Garry (gwatts21) put his Prado over some pretty tough obstacles with nothing more than a scrape on the bash plates both at Morgan and in the Flinders. He always keeps up with the modified vehicles. Just shows a standard and carefully driven vehicle will go just about anywhere on the mainstream 4wd map.

It's about knowing the limitations of your vehicle, modified or not, and common sense and training/instruction....
