  • OEM air suspension or aftermarket suspension?

    Hi all,
I have a 2005 Prado GXL and I'm thinking of changing the suspension. I've heard the OEM air suspension works really well but there is always the option of getting aftermarket ones, with Bilstein shocks and Ridepro springs recommended by most of you here. Question now is, which one should I pick? Should I get a quote from Toyota asking how much it costs to put air suspension on my Prado and getting that? Or should I just buy Bilstein/Ridepro and get it installed? But living in Perth, where do you recommend I should get them? Thanks in advance!

I don't think Toyota are going to be able to help you. Coverting to the Grande air suspension would be quite involved and just buying all the parts would cost a small fortune.

Contact Darren in the vendors section and he'll be able to advise you on the package that best suits your needs and advise you of an installer he recommends in your area.

A lot of the members here have fitted the suspension kits themselves. I fiited the kit plus the poly air bags in less than a day. Got the front end wheel aligned next business day for around $60. You can save around $400 - $500 by doing it yourself with a few basic tools.

There's a good pictorial post eleswhere in this section that shows step by step fitting proceedure.

Too easy. Spend the $400 on some recovery gear or a good CB.
