  • Ultimate Suspension

    Hi all,
Just had the Prado fitted out with a 2" lift all round from Ultimate Suspension at Ingleburn, the service I got from Ken and the team was second to none. The price was right and now I can't wait to go 4WDing. If you are considering to get new suspension give these guys a call, I think you'll be surprised.
    Cheers Ray

Is that a shop name or the equipment brand? If it is the shop name what is the springs and shocks they normally fit?

      Re: Ultimate Suspension

Hi have spoken to Ken in the past re suspension. I was told they make their own springs, and the shocks come from the ex Decarbon Factory in Germany. They export a lot of suspension components to a couple of companies that Armour Plate Landcruisers, Jeeps etc.
Ken has been doing suspension for 4WDs since early 1980's

So far the suspension feels great when driving, although I think the real test will come when I go 4wding. Will get some pics soon. Ray

It is worth looking at the testimonials on the Ultimate Suspension website.

The bottom picture took my breath away. I would love to know if there was any damage if it is anyone on the forum, or anyone knows.

                Re: Ultimate Suspension

                Hi guys,

I have had Ultimate Suspension fitted to my Prado for a few years now. I am more than happy with the ride and handling of the Prado.

Recently, i fitted an Ironman 12,000 lb winch and noticed that the front had drooped. I rang Ken and told him of the situation and he checked my original order, which stated that a winch was going to be fitted.

He was surprised that the front had sagged. After a quick discussion over what could be done to rectify the problem, he said he would ship me a new set of front coils. They arrived at my mechanics workshop the next day. I will be getting them fitted this Saturday.

I also had Ultimate Suspension fitted to my '83 Hi-Lux. Customised. 4” lift in the front, 6 ½” lift in the rear. Wheel travel was excellent. Off road, my Hi-Lux was able to keep up with Cruiser’s fitted with diff-locks without any problems. Had it for 14 years and only got stuck 3 times. Once the diff locks were fitted, it was unstoppable. I could almost idle up any hill.

I miss my old Hi-Lux. I would love to build another one like it, but with the 3 litre 1KZ engine, not the 2.2 litre L engine I had in mine.

                But I love my Prado.

                  So any pictures yet?
After lots of towing in the last 6 months I realise just how much I need to upgrade the suspension.

Are you still happy with the setup?

                  Cheers

                    Re: Ultimate Suspension

Went in today for the 1k service on the new "Ultimate suspension". They don't issue the warrenty until you have this done.
After about 20 minutes the service tech calls me out to the workshop, " really sorry jeff, but we have found a slight trace of oil on one shock. We need to take it apart to check it out".
They changed their jobs around for tomorrow just to accomodate me, yes it is their job to do this, I only wish some other places were this keen to do the right thing.
The suspenion with a 2" lift and airbags in the back works a treat to.
