Any one running Ridepro

A mate of mine has told about Ridepro and reckons that they are a pretty good bit of gear. A search on here revealed a few people running the springs with a different branded shock. Has anyone got a spring/shock combo? Any good/bad feed back? Just got by bull bar on today and am thinking of what to do next.

Do a search for Darren from Auto-craft. He does an excellent Bilsten shockie and ridepro package just for the Prado. I've had OME before but this combo is something else from Darren.

We sell pretty much every brand of shock, and coil, and find the cream always rises to the top, with the build quality of the Ridepro stuff pretty good, in coils, and the shocks they are now using, they did have afew goes at fixing the bottom bush on the twin tube early versions, ut the new monotube version doesnt seem to have the problem.

Ridepro rates well in the value for money stakes, when you take use, warranty, durability, and build quality, as well as cost into account.

Just make sure who ever fits it, does the bottom front strut bolts up at ride height, and not while at full droop!

I am running ridepro and from your location I suspect you will be getting them installed at the same place I did. Anyway I went with the following set up

Ridepro
Front
Springs ZC7300
Shocks ZS157420
Rear
Springs ZC7325
Shocks ZS117141

+ polyairs PY12895

Not sure where that sits with the various grads of springs I am sure Darren could tell you. But my ride on road and off road is a great deal better than it was. I have only used the poly airs once and that was when I had pavers in the back and a load more in the trailer. I went Ridepro based on the price I could aford at the time and I have not been dissapointed.

Thanks Neil, nice build up thread mine will be very similar when its finished. Going with the Tracklander too, getting fitted as we speak. Do you have any pics of a side on shot?

Sweet! Was just curious how it looked when you stated 35 at the front and 50 in the rear was wondering if it would appear too nose down. But that looks good.

It twists the bushes up fully when compressed, vs extended, compared to being more centred and only twisting a little each way from ride height to fully up and fully down.

This chews out the bushes faster, if tightened at full droop, and when the bushes flog out, next the leg breaks off the shock.

A friend got a 2" ride pro lift springs & shocks on his Pajero and he has a strange squeeking/rubbing nosie upfront. Could this be the cause? Other than that he says it seems to be ok. He hasnt had a chance to take it back to the installer yet. We hit up White Hills last week end and the noise annoyed the hell out of me but the car handled well.

Sounds like the locator washer isnt seated correctly in the hole on one of the front top mounts.

I originally had ride pro coils and shocks in my previous GQ (3" lift) and was all good for about a year and one of the rear coils ended up collapsing and sagging on one side - vehicle was a bit lop sided after that lol. The shocks did weep a bit of oil over the time I had them but still rode ok. Considering how cheap they were compared to other brands I can't complain too much but I can't be impressed either. Like they say Pay peanuts u will get monkeys.

A GQ, with spare wheel, petrol tank, and driver all on one side, even though normally have a 25mm longer coil for the driver side, when on lpg, sometimes they have to be trimmed with a 15mm packer as well, to get them to sit square. [with many brands]

The shocks are designed to push out some oil over thier life, when they get hot [which they are supposed to do, when they are working] misting occurs around the top of the shock. You dont see this on OME, or similar, because the shock, like the factory ones, will give up before it gets to that point, which means you have to stop, let them cool, or cant go as fas, because of the lack of ride quality once they go off. Factory Toyota shocks also go off, before they get to that point.

Being able to dyno test shocks with a shock dyno, you can measure these things in a controlled environment.

The standard considered for world testing on a shock is no stress to complete 1 million cycles at .2m per second, double that though, and its tough going for many.

Many common brands dont last 10 minutes before heat stops them offering damping force, OME lasts between 13 and 19 minutes on average, Ridepro ROX changes paint color normally after 40 minutes, but see's no change [less han 1%] over an hour in performance, Bilsteins run up to 40 deg cooler, and dont change color over an hour.

When you repeat the test after 24 hrs to measure any loss of performance heating them may have had, some of the common brands will lose up to 15% of thier performance.

These type of tests are how we work out whats most suited to the application.

I fitted Ridepro coils and shocks to my GQ shorty. They lasted about 6 months before the driver's side got a worse lean than usual. Took them out and the coils were shaped liked a banana. Replaced with EFS and all was good for the remaining 2.5 years I had it.

It had about an inch lean in the drivers side compared to the passengers. I never actually ran a spare wheel or even owned one until I went to sell the vehicle and only got one for roady, nor was the vehicle on gas or had a long range tank. In the end I put it down to a cheaper product.

After half a day of offroad caused near the entire shock to be covered in fine coat of oil and what ever had stuck to it along the way. I was told by the company I bought it from it was normal, I thought i was bit excessive but continued with it and simply made cleaning the shocks part of cleaning the vehicle lol.
