  • Air suspension lift

I want to lift our Prado Grande for about 2 inches. We want to keep the air suspension. Does anyone know a solution?
If I remember well, 1coolbanana wrote somewhere about Toughdog.

    Hey Rhinesailor.
There are plenty of threads on Grande suspension in this Suspension section with various options from tricking the airbag sensors with panel washers to replacing the OEM airbags and replacing with aftermarket taller and stronger airbags such as the Airbagman OA6011's, through to replacing the airbags which are prone to deteriorating after approx 10 yrs with a spring conversion. Sit down with a cold one and start reading cause theres plenty of good info on here.

    Enjoy!

      Thanks a lot Graigm,
I curious what it will bring. It's a bit early (6:35) overhere for a cold one at the moment overhere.

If you read said threads theres heaps of info how to do it, its quite simple.. But keep it around 40mm lift to avoid issues with CV's and things.

              Hi Craigm,
I tried to send you a message, but you exceeded your quota. I found the Airbagman 6011's but there are still a lot of questions. It would be great if you van help me.
              Thanks so far!

In case of lifting 2 inches, and fitting the Airbagman OA6011's, what more should be done? I have to count with an increasing weight, because of preparing for traveling. ARB winchebar, winch, second battery, roof rack and tent, etc. etc.

-Which front coils do I use?

-What about the shocks, can I replace the original front-shocks for non-originals, without problems with the air suspension brain? Which rear shocks can I use?

Hi Rhinesailor this is what I did with my Grande, it rides great and by keeping the airbags it is great for towing and read up on what the TEMS system actually does as is more active than people realise , I did not go crazy on lift as fitted larger tyres 265-70-17, I do no go hardcore off road the only thing I wish I did at the time is put on retaining clip on the bottom of the airbags will do that another time.

I replaced my front springs with dobisons C59-296, both front TEMS shocks, rear airbags my rear TEMS shocks where just replaced by previous owner. I got my springs locally (Australia) and shocks and airbags through Partsouq, the car drives great I was toying with the idea of replacing with normal shocks etc but after reading up about the TEMS system am very glad I kept it. There are great instructions on this site and it took me 3/4 day to complete as the airbag lines require a small hand to refit and I have big old mitts and this took most of my time. Total cost for me was about $1400 au but if I did it agian I would get the airline detach tool as for me the few dollars to buy one would be offset by the cursing and swearing of using alternatives. I have about 770mm on front from 730 and 800 on rear from 780 (adjusted with spacers on level sensor.)

                    Hi Hobes,
Thanks for your detailed information! I also won't go the extreme way, so now I am thinking which of the options it is going to be.
