  • Camping and bottoming out

    Howdy, been a while....

I have read through countless reviews on lift kits etc, but have a few dilemmas that I need help with...

    1. Went camping on the weekend.... the car was loaded up quite a lot - roofracks had prob around 60kg on it (including cage), and the back was full to the brim. I noticed it was sagging a LOT at the back.... and,
    2. Once got there, unloaded everything, went to some forests and had some fun, but bottomed out a bit - I am SURE it was the bash plate bottoming out.

    My questions are:
    1. will Poly airs be the best solution to help with the sagging issue?
    2. will getting a lift be the best to solve both issues? Am not a tinkerer and hence want something from a well known place, with good service - was looking at the OME Nitrocharger Sport.
    3. as justification to the missus, 4 years is a good time to change your shocks?

<EDIT> Just read the one on Poly Airs v Shocks. Seems that the options are medium spring with poly airs or just go hard core and get the heavy springs???? </EDIT>

    Thanks!

    Re: Camping and bottoming out

This has sort of been answered in other threads but you need to consider what sort of load you will typically carry. Changing to Heavy duty springs will probably NOT be the best idea unless you are going to constantly carry a lot of weight. If you have Heavy Duty springs and nothing in the rear then the springs will not compress and the ride will be awful. May end in divorce I have medium springs OME and with a very light load the ride is pretty firm but when we go away the ride is smooth as without any excessive compression in the springs as a result of the load.

Thanks, after speaking to a few ppl on the phone, it seems medium springs with poly airs is the best bet.
