noise at rear

Help please peeps, I have a knocking and or groaning from rear, usually happens when setting off in forward. Think its the exhaust knocking on floor(3 " scotsrods) i have replaced rubbers and checked bolts. Could it be a suspension prob? I have a 2005 GXL 1kzte owned for 6 years and have put 100km on it (it came with ome front and rear unknown how long they have been on) ride has always been v hard and i feel every bump.
