Tems shocks and Dobinsons springs

Hi all,

This is my first post so here goes. I recently purchased a 2007 120 Grande V6 engine. Now I like the traction control system for driving about town and on long trips don’t intend in doing any major off-roading with this vehicle.

I do want to fit a front steel bull-bar and winch and extra battery. I know this weight will cause a bit of drop at the front I assume so my question is can I buy a set of the Toyota TEMS shocks from parrtsoup and fit these Dobinson’s springs to them C59-302 to reduce the drop. Will the Toyota shock assembly be able to take the extra spring pressure? Also what are the correct part numbers for the front shocks? If this would not work could someone recommend a different spring.

TEMS shocks are expensive and the C59-302 is too long for the length of the TEMS shock, try a C59-300 to carry the steel bar, winch and battery if you want to retain the TEMS shock.

Hi. I have a Grande V6 auto, I have a sovereign bar on front, I used C59-300 on front and brought new front TEMS shocks from Partsouq and new rear airbags, there are great instructions on how to put it all together in the forum, I love the TEMS, mine had the rear TEMS shocks put in just before I purchased lucky, I fitted it all on and wow, the ability to tune out the corrugations with comfort to sport is great, I usaully have it in comfort around town, the rear airbags I lifted the sensors again instructions on forum here, I put on 265/70/17 tyres and this has given me good ground clearance and while I do not hardcore off road I have never been bogged or caught on anything very impressed coming from Suzuki LJ50s 4WDs.
The C59-300 have just enough lift for my set up but if I ran steel bar, 2nd battery and winch I would look at my options as I have just enough,
I Love the TEMS system, read up about it, I particularly like how it firms up the rebound when you are on the gas or hard on the brakes instantly and how on sport mode it really can surprise around corners, also the airbags adjust for load is great as you see many Prados with squatting rears obviously no one from this forum.
The traction control took some time for me to trust it and works well when let do its own business.

Thank you for the reply. I eventually contacted king springs and they recommended the KTFR-101 springs for my setup so I bought those. I like the TEMS system and it works well as I use this Prado as a daily drive. My rear shocks are ok at the moment but if I do have to change the bags at some point I will probably fit the airman bag kit.
I also received advice from another forum member to fit the Tough dog strut mount part number TOY-1084 instead of Toyota's (origional part is about twice the price). This mount allows the TEMS module to fit the strut like Toyotas does.Other mounts are too big and do not allow enough of the top of the shock to stick out to attach to the actuator.
