    G'day guys,
Been contemplating this for a while now,any body checked with Toyota in regards to voiding waranty?Would be interested on what insurers have to say as well.
Will check out the 4wd and camping show up here in Brisbane to see what sort of deal I can get.
Anyone had any real problems with a 2 inch lift?
    Only realy read about benifets.
    Regards Darren.

Excactly what do you mean in regards to Toyota waranty?
Only the items that are aftermarket or the damage they will get blammed for?

So what was the noise? Did you get the problem sorted?cost to you?
Had heard of body cracks being blammed on suspension rigidity and
      extra weight of dual battery.
Might contact Toyota Australia and see If they will put something in writing
in regards to lifting suspension 50mm.
Will post how I get on
      Regards Darren.

In my experience, having spoken to fifty thousand Toyota 'droids about this, it seems Toyota will use any excuse to try and blame "non-genuine" mods to avoid warranty claims.

When asking them about fitting 70series profile tyres, they told me that Toyota would disclaim any warranty for "the extra strain it puts on the entire drivetrain" - they proceeded to mention that it included shocks, driveshafts, suspension etc etc

I therefore plan on keeping a low profile during the warranty period, to avoid the chances of giving them an excuse... however, lots of others around here seem to manage OK.

It really depends on how lucky you feel

Not really "problems" but it took some sorting to things right in the end.

I went into TJM a week or so ago... I asked what the difference between their brand and fitting Billies and Lovells (still by them) and the answer was...'depends if you want yellow shocks or not  '

I don't know much about cars/mechanicals but I'm not an idiot

If they are that similar... say so

Sound like that's what they think of you - you might want to think about taking your $$$ elsewhere to someone who:

                      a) knows that they're actually talking about; and

                      b) can be bothered to take the time with you to:
                      • i) find out what kind of driving you do; and
ii) find out the loads that you carry; and
iii) get an idea of your expectations (and tell you whether they are actually achievable); and
iv) lay out your options; and
                        v) explain the pros and cons of each one option before you shell out your $$$.

I have... made all the enquiries I think I need now and have decided on the billies/lovells combo...
I'm getting a mechanic friend of mine to do the install for me and know his work is very good.

He used to service my old pulsar & SIL's carolla and he treated them all like they were his own and his kids would be in them.

I should clarify though, the manager then served me because I asked one or two questions that threw the first guy and he then went on about how good billies are for handling... still didn't ask what I wanted to do in the car / what I carry on a daily basis / do I tow anything... better, but still not great service.
                        Cheers, Leon

I have found that my local TJM (Springwood) are excellent. Steve there
takes the time to understand what you need. He said right away , on a prado go the Bilstiens. He was up front and told me that they are more expensive than other options but after reading 100's or posts on 120;s cool re bilstiens, he simply confirmed what i was already thinking. It shows that he knows what hes on about.

He also described the kind of off road i intend doing and the loads i have on board before making his recommendations relating to springs(which again alligned with what i had expected in my own mind)

Plenty of wraps for the Bilsteins but no one has yet commented on the TJM setup. 4WD Megastores have an August special of free fitting on suspension packages. XGS shocks quoted at $153 each. XGS springs $210 a pair. (40-50mm lift) Total cost $1032 installed. Add about $300 for Polyairs, again with free installation. Not bad pricing. Also has 3 year 60,000km warranty.

Main concern in talking to them is that they did not ask what I use the vehicle for or what accessories I have.

As a comparison, I spoke to Cliff at ATS yesterday. He was very helpful and talked of the need to match the setup with vehicles intended use. Sent ATS a email detailing vehicle accesories, towing requirments and planned trips. Still waiting for a reply.

Despite lack of questions from 4wd Megastore, I am curious if anyone out there has the TJM XGS setup and what they think.

                              Cheers - Byrnsie
