        Superior 4" lift?

Before you say search I did use the search function and google but couldn't find the answers to what I was wanting to know.

I'm looking at putting the pro fender 4" kit on my 06 prado and am hoping to run 255/80/17 BFG km2's
Although was told in Aus you can't buy them.

Reason is to get as much clearance as possible and run the 33's with +10 to +20 offset, wasnt planning to change front uca's yet.

But talking to a local 4by place he told me the cv boots will tear about every 3-4 months with lift over 3".

I know there is a few on here with the bigger lift so if you can give me some advice. I can get the kit new cheap off someone from this forum and is going to work out the same price as buying a 2" kit anyway.

Also are the cal cv's and cromo axles any good?

        Thanks brad

I replied to your other thread, but here you've also mentioned aftermarket cv's.

Without knowing specifically about the Cal CV's (Call Offroad I imagine you are referring to here), be careful with upgrading to stronger cv's as I've read they are meant to a weak point to protect the more expensive parts of your driveline.

Ok so the question has been moved to this thread if anyone is confused.

Yeh was talking about cal off road cv's, its a fair point about making them a weak point.

So do people have problems with tearing the cv boots, I understand cv angles won't be as great but just wondering if its worth the 4" lift, I read this topic before i started a new question but there wasnt alot of helpful info.

            Thanks brad

my 120 sits at 835mm in the front and a full droop is at 900mm. my CV boots are still fine and are actually the OE ones from when i bought my 120 new.

anything over 50-60mm lift on the front will require additional alignment adjustment. there is absolutely not enough adjustment out of the lower control arm adjusters on their own. you should also aim for 1 degree of castor spread.

a 4" lift needs to be refined. not just slapped in.

Looks OK but as I have said in the past, this kit is incomplete unless you add aftermarket UCAs. Without changing UCAs, any lift over 2.5" will not have correct wheel alignment and will have issues with the OE UCA contacting the spring and limiting down travel. If you have ABS, I think you will need 2 brake lines and no need for the proportioning valve bracket.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

If that's the case ill definately look at importing a set of the front uca's from the states then to complete the kit which is why I was asking because i want to have it right when it all goes together..

I see there is a few brands in the states, ill read back through some other people's build threads to see what they used i think, any thing else i need to look at?

                      Thanks brad

you might as well get them locally. at least they will already have the Super Pro Polyurethane bushes in them, which will save you pulling the arms out in 6 months time to change the no good rubber bushes out.

                          check fulcrum or 4wd1.

they are dearer, but with the aussie dollar going down, it's not so bad.

4wd1 have them on sale for $799 really for the price ill get them as well, is that all I'm likely to need for the 4" lift? Would 33's fit on stock rims with the aftermarket uca's, will save me buying new rims as well.

                            Thanks brad

Those Light Racing UCAs are a good option, the specific part number is LR25480 a bit cheaper here: http://4x4.fatbobsgarage.com/light-r...ers-p4029.aspx
They are also available in Australia from Monster Rides for $750 which is similar to importing them once you add freight: http://www.monsterrides.com.au/

Superior Engineering have their own for $820: http://www.superiorengineering.com.a...oducts_id=8164
