Grande 120 Suspension Upgrade

I have done away with the coils completely and installed airbags from airbag man. Airbag man has a Prado with the air bag suspension but the height is manually adjusted. They also said they have never fitted auto height adjustment kit to a Prado, only sold them. I was so pissed off because they couldn't tell me where I could mount the valves.

I got the self leveling kit with manual over ride. Its just minimal space to mount the valve behind the fuel tank.

So how does that work?
Is it like a brake proportioning valve and does the kit come with a compressor?

Its not very good that they dont know the product they sell

Yes it uses the same principle as a brake proportioning valve. It has a linkage that goes to a valve body. From memory they have kits that include a compressor etc.

No and its hard working away and not being able to provide input. Once its all sorted I will do a write-up on my build thread highlighting the good and bad points in relation to this suspension upgrade.

I did speak to ultimate suspension and he laughed at me as to why I wanted to install airbags (last time I checked it was my vehicle). They also informed me that they use the existing height controls on the vehicle and have never installed a auto height control on a Prado. They just get the longer airbags from airbag man and install them on the Grande.

Why does the industry seem to be so full of arrogant tossers who think everyone else is an idiot?!?!?!?!
Sad reflection on the industry as a whole.

Suppose thats why so many of us struggle to try and do every thing ourselves huh?

Airbag Man extended airbags going in with new shocks tomorrow.

Looking forward to the improvement.

Front is currently sitting at 810mm (880mm full droop), so will be getting the rear set to 840mm on the N setting (full doop is expected to be around 915mm or so). Nice lifted height all round, with the extra height still available on the Hi setting should I ever need it - and no worries about the airbags coming out!

Will keep you posted on the results.....

Finally the suspension is done !! very happy with the result, what a difference specially under breaking...
Couldn't do anything to retain the bags but will get to it when I have a chance or replace with longer bags when I save up some money

So you didn't need the bolts and washers to lift the rear? They are with the bashplates which is out for delivery today.

Great result up the front Shan.. Well done! You'll need to space out the adjusters to increase your height in the rear though. Typically the rear should be 20-30mm higher than the front. Have another look at 1CB's post #122.

Nope I need them !! that's why the rear is sitting only 800mm or so. couldn't get any more on the original bolt. And the washers are just what I could find. Thanks Andrew !! received the bash plates today. Will get them on before the weekend as well.

Yeah, I realised after studying the pictures closer that the full lift was not achieved at the rear. Happy hunting for the bolts and washers. It's somewhere in the foam.

Dual Batteries, Genesis HIDs and the Bash Plates are on the TO DO LIST this Wednesday... I'll get the measurements for you then....
They were siting in the garage for well over a month now.
