I'm contemplating an Ironman constant load (HD springs and gas shocks) 2" lift for my 04 TD. I have an ARB steel bar, draws and fridge in the back and tow a camper trailer (approx 1000kg loaded). I want a firm but not harsh ride that won't sag when towing. Can anyone tell me if this is a suitable suspension upgrade or recommend something else.

Re: Ironman constant load lift
hi dudley i have had this lift in for about 80k and i am very happy with it, i also have bar, winch, fridge and drawers to constant load kit was for me, i have towed a fully loaded camper as well and while it did sit down a little in the back it still handled very well, when unloaded and empty tanks it rides firm but not harsh, road handling is improved, ie less body roll and no wallowing. Offroad it handles very well giving good wheel travel when needed, i would go with the foamcell shocks as i think they offer better rebound control compare to the nitrogas, also these struts have a trim packer you can add if you want to raise the front up a little or lower it. over all im very happy with this package. cheers samo
here is pic of wheel travel

had an 03 gx 120 with some gear now got a 2013 bt 50 GT auto some ARB gear.

Re: Ironman constant load lift
SAMO is that a 2" lift, or is it 40mm or whatever they are selling?
Everything seems to be in mm for lift heights and it confuses me. :?:2004 Prado GXL. v6 auto, ARB deluxe bar, exhaust, 2" EFS lift kit, Outback Acc rear bar,
rallye 2000 spots, roof mount dvd, dig_options stereo, toyota roof bars.
More to come!

Re: Ironman constant load lift
Most coils are a constant load set up, some light spring applications may be variable rate, but not many.
Ironman are the budget end of the market, and as expected, life, ride comfort, performance of this end of the market dont dissapoint when expectations are for that end product.

Re: Ironman constant load lift
they are a entry level suspension kit, you can go for something like this or you can pay up to $3000 for fully ajustable kits, in the end it is up to you on how much you spend and what you want out of your suspension, im happy with mine. just have a read through all the posts in the suspension sections of the 90,120, and 150 section and see what you find, alot of ppl have OME (old man emu), some have bilsteins with ripepo coils or lovells, some have ironman, some have tjm. just choose wisely when you decide what you want, remember when its on there you cant give it back. cheers samohad an 03 gx 120 with some gear now got a 2013 bt 50 GT auto some ARB gear.

Re: Ironman constant load lift
 very happy with mine, and i fitted 'em myself! took mine for a 1300k lap up to the northern rivers , my prado loved the load ..it felt really good to drive
the the V6 got at good run in the torque range pulling everything you need on a family holiday, trailer, tinny, bikes, tent , sink etc... I cant fault 'em the $$$ , i put my rig into corners now , with confidence, i dont have any wallow or sway,it doesnt slam with road defects at speed. I found a place to put the stock 120 shocks
ops:
I dont know how much better the ride would be for the cost of the top end setup.. but ... for what i do , very happy here... butane 8) ( entry level ) 8)
